Brandon moore has been solid.. i dont think there is any need to draft high or sign a free agent for Right Guard. I think we need to groom someone for left guard, and we deffinetly need a LT
stenosis is the reason why he'll drop out of the first, it's a fairly serious problem considering his size and weight (tall people tend to have more back issues than shorter people, and combine that with a lot of body mass and you are bound to have problems, the bad thing is he already has experienced them at a very young age)
Why does everyone hate Brandon Moore? He pllayed well, is very quick, and is still learning how to Play G. He is a Very good player
Another option Don't be suprised to see Tangini searching the wire for depth after camp starts as well as some undrafted college players. Finding another Kendall will not be easy but it could happen. It's not unusual for "scout team" o-line players to develope into gamers. I do believe that if the Draft ends with less than 2 new OL on our roster Tangini failed to address the needs.
Remember i did not say we dont draft o linemen. But the ergency to get 1 in the 1st rd will not be there if they sign 1 more vet to play tackle. They have some youth in Katnick,Missant,King and Snell. They will all get a chance to amake the club and learn from the vets that are playnig. They will adress the O line later in the draft. They need to get impact players on day 1 . At least 3 starters or situational players that can step in. At some point on day 1 its a lock they will get a burner for wide receiver and a corner. There are many to choose from.
Yes...I think he underachieved so far with us...he can turn into IMO a very good rg of the future. Adrian Jones Pete Kendall Trey Teague Brandon Moore (fill in with MJG or Marcus McNeill, etc)
The OL is the weakest part of our team. In no way, shape, or form does the signing of Trey Teague make our OL "almost complete." Does it change our draft strategy? Possibly, but we still have some major issues to work out before the season starts.
Dont expect Cavka to be our starting r/tackle. He might not even make the team. He hasnt been able to lock up a starting spot in NFL Europe so dont expect much. There will be 1 more signing before the draft and it will be an offensive tackle.
I am still holding out hope of trading down a few spots and getting Winston Justice. Then with the #29 they can get lawson/Carpenter it leaves #35 open for BPA and then take Eslinger in the 3rd round or with a late round 2nd they might get from trading down.. Then it would be Jones-Kendall-Teague/Eslinger-Moore-Justice.
With 5 picks on the first day I am praying the Jets spend at least 2 of those on O-Line if not 3. And at least one in the first three picks. I know alot of people want the sexy QB pick ... but remember ... Vinny almost took us to the promise land in '98 ... in large part because we had a solid O-line. Simply the #1 thing in my mind we need to shore up during the draft.
I agree that we could - almost - play with the guys we have now on O-line, but I still think the Teague signing doesn't change many things. First of all, the best indicator of an O-line's success is continuity. We don't want to be replacing guys every year or two. I'd love to see us go into next year with: LT:Jones, LG: Kendall, C: Mangold, RG: Moore, RT: Whitworth. I think that's a nice mix of run and pass blocking talent and, outside of Kendall, a bunch of young guys that could potentially play together for many years. I'd love to see us draft a guard to develop for a year behind Kendall, use Teague as backup at center and LT, have Cavka backup at RT and have Morley, Missant, and Katnik battle it out for the remaining spots. Me likey.
Adrian Jones can play RT/LT Pete Kendall can play OG/C Trey Teague can play C/OT Katnik's name has been mentioned as a possible starting candidate at C First, I wouldn't use anyone else on our roster as a starting o-lineman. Second, I wouldn't assume anything about who plays where until the draft is completed... its no mistake that we have versatile guys on the roster, it gives the FO the flexibility to take the best O-LINEMAN availabe at any position in the draft rather than restricting them to taking the position they need. Example: At pick #29 McNeill and Mangold are available, they are graded 80 and 85 respectfully, we take Mangold (even though we have a Center now) because he grades out higher and if he is ready to start now... then we can consider shifting Teague back to OT.
I'm pretty sure Jonathan Scott could only put up like 15 reps on the bench press. If he is going to be "pushing" pass rushers away, then we might want to schedule some high school teams because I'm pretty sure that's not going to cut it. Also, I don't remember where but I thought I read someone say n an article that they would never allow Trueblood to be there Tackle. Not sure though.
Underachieved!?! He has only been playing Offense let alone Offensive Guard for like 2 years. He is overachieving if anything.
ACTUALLY - the final make up of the o-line depends on who the QB is...... i mean, whether its a southpaw or not... jil
We are close to being serviceable for this season, but I would like to draft some guys who can be groomed for down the road, as Teague and Kendall will both be gone in a couple of years. Tackle, Center and Guard are all still positions I would like to be addressed. That being said, I'm pleased that outside of Tackle we no longer have any immediate needs as far as starters are concerned, meaning we can keep the focus on getting the BPA without drafting for immediate needs. Kudos to the jets FO
