There has always been assholes--believe me I know--but today's brand of asshole is in a different class.

Jax can do it if they really wanted to--they don't don't want the headache--he's not worth it.

If a team has zero interest in even picking up the fifth year option of a 1st round pick, chances are it was a bust pick.
That is good measuring stick with this CBA, and is especially true with a top 10 pick.

Taking it a step further, if the team decides to cut a 1st round pick before even their fourth season, they are even a bigger bust.

I think the only Jets 1st round pick since the last CBA who hasn't received at least a 5th year option was Milliner.
Even Coples got the option, although he was cut before the option became guaranteed for injury.

EDIT - How did I miss Calvin Pryor?
Cut after 3 years. Mega Bust

It's just a couple of guys that don't get it, Clown Shoes and some other guy that seems to not understand that they're letting Fowler go because he's an asshole and it's not the money.

Will be ranked 31st in available salary cap space come 2019.

Will be ranked 32nd in available salary cap space come 2020.

Just lost Allen Robinson this past offseason. Set to lose Dante Fowler Jr this coming offseason (who led them in forced fumbles and 3rd in team sacks) and are due to lose a few more talents throughout future offseasons; it's called salary cap hell however don't let the self-proclaimed know it all geniuses tell you otherwise.

Recheck your cap figures, Jax currently has $18,953,127 in available cap, could have fit Fowler's option year with no problem. Next year they are projected to be $18,064,656 over. Not $30 million, not even close. When you factor in the carryover thet have $889,271 available. Almost $31 million more than your figure. They can cut Darius with zero dead cap and add an additional $10,585,000.
Not exactly in good shape but certainly not any where near $30 million OTC.

    I'm with you on this.
Just trying to clarify my definition of draft bust.

I think the 5th year option is a very good litmus test.

    Lol "rank".

"Rank" doesn't matter, absolute dollars matter.

    Stop quoting irrelevant "stats".

OTC actually has updated and Jax actually has $$22,902,508 so add almost $3 million to their available cap space next year.

I prefer it when you post this length by a wide margin.

    Very interesting.

So you're saying Jax COULD keep Fowler if they deemed him worthy?

You know, as the THIRD pick of the draft?

    And it's NOT money?

The Pryor pick still annoys me to no end. Desperately needing a WR and Brandin Cooks (as well as Clinton-Dix) sitting right there for you and they take Pryor

I could be wrong but I think they are using this link https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/2019/
But it's completely off as of now.
Has the Jets as being $21,547,796 over the cap in 2019.

people just think that because info flows more freely. back then there wasn't twitter, instagram, witch hunts, TMZ etc. the only thing that has changed is how readily available info is to large groups of people at such a quick turnaround. the players haven't changed the internet just allows them in a spotlight in a way that was never like that. It also stopped the NFL from sweeping shit under the rug like they did in the past.

dam didn't even look at 202 but that makes it even worse

I think your numbers are off? are you looking at OTC? look at spotrac they proven to have the more accurate numbers then OTC. for 2018 they have 11.5 mil so assuming it carries over and they don't add any more cap to it this year during the season, next year they have -29.2 mil so i'll round it to 29mil to be nice. minus 11.5 mil that's still -17.5 mil for 2019 going into the offseason. even if we are generous and say 8 mil for the rookie pool that nets them at -25.5 add in fowlers option which was 14.2 mil that makes it -39.7 mil had they picked up fowlers option. to make it worse they can't shed money into 2020 either as in 2020 they are currently negative for 2020 as well. Jax is in serious cap hell. They backloadd too many contracts a few years ago and it's biting them in the ass right now

We're going to have to cut Williams, Adams , Maye and Darnold to sign our rookie class. Lol
