I don't like Gates and Hilliard either, but we might just keep them because they are cheap and average and #4 WR and FB shouldn't be needs we need to address extra money to this offseason.

And yeah, good point on WISH list. Sanchez leaving is definitely a wish unfortunately.

I really hope we sign Landry. This guy is a monster and has turned our safeties from a weakness to a strength.
Might be controversial but if we're sitting there at 9 and Geno Smith or Matt Barkely are on the board we have to pull the trigger. Yeah we need more weapons on offense but I'm sorry Sanchez has been pathetic and either of those guys would get it done. People sleep on Barkely and ik it'd be weird drafting another USC qb but the guy has a lot of experience in a pro style offense and I see him bouncing back after a tough year at USC

    .

Fire soprano and mike tannenbaum (already happening)
    Get rid of mark Sanchez
Get rid of dead contract weight.
    Resign revis
Trade down in the draft and get gio bernard (while getting maybe 2nd or 3rd)
Draft Landry jones, mike Glennon, Tyler Wilson (Atleast one will drop to the early to mid second)
Trade tebow for a 5th rounder
    Resign Braylon

We have a 3 way qb battle from one of the young QBs listed, Sanchez, and McElroy

    What do you guys think?

Are you saying that Cromartie, who's already been traded once, is too high profile to be traded now?

I would like to see the jets maybe bring in Peyton Hillis. Last I had seen he was on a one year deal with KC. Would be a good complementing back to Powell if we can't retain Shawn Greene or let him go. But I am a fan of big backs like that. He reminds me of a weaker Alstott...lol

That's not saying much though... Can he make a comeback? Sure. But he's injury riddled and a drama queen. He's notorious for his Osama bin laden comments. Too much baggage. Last player this team needs right now. Look elsewhere, plenty of solid backs out there.

Can't forget that he has also rode the bench behind Charles. He has talent... The time on the bench maybe took his ego down a Lil and maybe his price tag as well. Would really like to see him in green and white. Who is the player your talking about drafting?

This is a team that lacks speed and explosiveness on offense and you people want to cut McNight and bring in RBs like Mendenhall and Hillis????? Greene had better seasons than both in 2011 and 2012. If anyone on the team is being underutilized, it is McNight. He is the only player on offense that can break off a 25+ yard play, but he never gets in the game.

Hillis, really? had a whopping 300 total yards this season. Injury riddled. Doesn't play through sore throats. Only if he's dirt cheap, he needs to redeem himself big-time. Make him play fullback like he did in college.

Only because he can't hold onto the football and he can't keep himself healthy. He is not reliable so we need another finesse back. He's a good returner though.

Hillis is not even half the RB you guys remember. He has a big fumbling problem and doesn't run over anyone anymore. I would pass on Hillis.

Cut Holmes, Jason Smith, Pace, Scott, and Eric Smith. Trade Tebow for any draft pick. (approximately $108.5 in Salary, $12.5 million cap space).

Restructure Cromartie with an extension and save $5 million; restructure David Harris and save $4 million. (approximately $99.5 million in Salary; $21.5 million cap space).

Franchise Landry, re-sign Braylon, Howard, Cumberland and Hilliard, and offer cheap deals to Bell, DeVito, Moore, Slauson, and Schilens. (approximately $108-112 million in Salary.)

Sign a very cheap backup QB. (approximately $109-113 million in Salary.)

Sign a FS (if Bell isn't kept), WR (if Braylon isn't kept), FB (if Hilliard isn't kept) and DE (if DeVito isn't kept).

Trade down in the draft, snag Warmack, an OLB, Barrett Jones, RB, Blocking TE, Late Round BPA, and K.

Cheap depth will be needed at DE, WR, OT, OLB, and ILB.

    Next year's Depth Chart:
QB (1?) McElroy (2?) Cheap FA QB (3) Sanchez
RB (1) Powell (2) Draft Pick RB (3) McKnight
    FB (1) Hilliard
WR (1) Braylon (2) Stephen Hill (3) Kerley
    TE (1) Cumberland (2) Blocking TE (3) Baker/Smith
    OT (LT) Ferguson (RT) Howard
OG (LG) Warmack (RG) Slauson (3) Barrett Jones (4) Ducasse
    C (1) Mangold (2) Barrett Jones

    DE Coples+Wilkerson
    DT (1) Pouha (2) Ellis
    OLB McIntyre+Draft Pick
    ILB Harris+Davis
FS (1) Free Agent (2) Josh Bush
SS (1) Landry (2) Antonio Allen

    K: Draft Pick
    P: Malone

Note-- I'm assuming the salary cap is $121 million.

Landry's contract has a clause that prevents him from getting hit with a Franchise tag.

    I would...

    - pick one good WR and some OL help (maybe Sanchez is better with more or better Material)
    - keep Edwards
    - fire Tannenbaum
    - trade 1st RD Pick for 2 or 3 in Round 2 and fix Defense with younger guys
    - we need a new/better O-Coordinator
    - trade Tebow away

    (1) Fire Mike Tannenbaum - This guy has destroyed the Jets offense. Enough said.

    (2) Fire Mark Sanchez - He has now regressed two years in a row and his confidence is so low that he will never ever be the quarter back Rex Ryan had hoped for

    (3) Fire Tony Sparano - He is a great offensive line coach and had the potential to create some major gaps for an explosive running back or an option off Tebow however he blew his chance with his crazy scheme of Sanchez/Tebow interchange earlier this season. There are better Offensive Coordinators out there.

    (4) Sign Alex Smith - Lets run a spread offense with Alex Smith in charge. Alex Smith has had great quarter back ratings using spread formations.

    (5) Keep Rex Ryan - A head coach in the NFL is nothing but a motivator and source of inspiration to players in the league. Let him stick to defense because he is a genius on that side of the ball but let him have no input whatsoever on offense. Leave him as a figurehead for the offense only. Remember this is the coach that every player in the league wanted to play for two years ago. What happened to that spark Rex? Did the lap band turn you into a snob? Go order your 10 cheeseburgers and get back to the Rex we use to know. You were hired because of your energy, honesty, and knowledge of defense. Take a look at yourself and become the man you use to be.

    (6) Keep Tim Tebow - I know it sounds crazy to so many people but this guy was never given a shot with the Jets. Keep him as the BACK UP quarterback and let him compete, learn and earn whatever he can from Alex Smith. None of this interchange sh*t we saw this year. As John Madden says either play Tim Tebow or don't play him at all. He really could be something special in the next two seasons once he learns how read the defense. Look at RG3, he wasn't the best "student of the game" in college yet this year he has learnt so much in the Washington Redskins classroom.

    (7) Hire Urban Meyer as Offensive Coordinator - An altered Urban Meyer spread option could really shake defenses up next year. What I like about it is you could have Jeremy Kerley in the slot, Holmes at X, Braylon at Z, Keller at W, Greene at HB, Alex Smith or Tim Tebow at QB. Those are some mighty fine options to throw or run with.

    (8) Leave defense has it is - It wasn't our defense that caused us problems it was turnovers on offense. Plus with all the work we have to do on offense and the limitations with the salary cap we wont have any room to improve it.

But hey what would I know right?...but this is my offseason wishlist.

    Happy new year

New York Jets until I die.

PS as Rex says wear your Jets gear with pride.

    1. We seen guys with injury history put together a string of good seasons, so why can't that be the case for Mendenhall?

    2. Who remembers those 9/11 comments? I forgot about it until you brought it up.

    3. He instantly becomes the bellcow this team needs, while Powell can be the change of pace back.

    1. Fire Tannenbaum, Sparano and Cavanaugh.

    2. Leave Rex Ryan's fate up to the new General Manager. Do NOT make Ryan staying a must.

    3. IF fired, hire Ken Whisenhunt as O.C. - If Whisenhunt is retained by Arizona, hire either Norv Turner, Pat Schumur or Matt LeFleuer (Redskins QB coach).

    4. Release/Trade Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow.

    5. Explore the possibility of trading Antonio Cromartie.

    6. Release or restructure the contract of David Harris.

    7. Release/Let walk the following: Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, Bryan Thomas, Sione Pouha, Eric Smith, Vladimir Ducasse, Matt Slauson, Austin Howard, Jason Smith, Dustin Keller, Clyde Gates, Mike DeVito.

    8. Re-sign LaRon Landry, Braylon Edwards, Lex Hilliard and Brandon Moore.

    9. Take an OL with the No.9 pick in the draft, whether it be Chance Warmack, Barrett Jones or Taylor Lewan. Feeling here is that Jones/Moore, the two top OLB/DE prospects, will be gone by No.9 and you do NOT trade up. If anything, trade down.

    10. Sign Matt Moore or Matt Flynn to compete with Greg McElroy AND a rookie selection made within the first four rounds.

    11. Sign Rashard Mendenhall to a one or two-year "show me" contract.
