I am 100% against this, this guy is a total asshole, drops more passes in big situations then anyone so-called "stud" WR I've ever seen, sign him for 4 weeks, then dump his sorry ass, I DON"T WANT HIM IN OUR LOCKER ROOM!!! ..of course Holmes hasn't played a down for us yet, but Cotch is the guy I want thrown to in a pressure situation, some of you have him as our 3rd WR, but I love his focus & ability, just because he is not a burner doesn't reduce his "heart" and GREAT hands!!
If we all had an issue with the amount of big play drops by Braylon Edwards we might all lose our minds with the amount Owens will have. His hands have been inconsistent for the last several seasons.
It seems as though the front office is looking at him merely because they could get for a great deal. He is still a great receiver, but you have to question if he would remain happy here. I have confidence in Rex and the front office. If they believe TO can be a successful part of this team, I am for it.
I just dont see the need for TO. We have Edwards, Holmes, and Cotchery at WR plus Keller at Tight end. Alright so Holmes will miss the first 4 games of the season. We still have more then enough at the posistion to get by until he returns in my opinion. And why would the Jets want to continue to move a guy like Cotchery further and further down on the Depth chart. This is a guy who has worked his ass off to get to where he is at and has made himself IMO one of the most underrated WR's in the NFL. I dont know if its the best message to send to your locker room to move this guy further down on the DC when all he has done is produce for this team. And I highly doubt they would consider bringing TO in with the idea of having him sit on the bench and be the number 4 WR.
i dont think this moves cotchery down the depth chart. right now cotchery is the better receiver. TO has aged. hes a good veteran option to spread the field at this point and to fill in for santonio while he sits out for smokin blunts.
I agree that Cotchery is better but I dont see why the Jets would sign a guy like him to be the 4th WR. I mean is it really worth it for 4 games? I think with Edwards, Cotchery, and Keller we have more then enough there to get by especially with Sanchez gaining the experience that he did last season. If it was almost any other WR I probably wouldnt have a problem with it and if we didnt already have 3 very good WR's I also probably wouldnt have a problem with it. But given what we have right now I just would not like this move.
We have a great front office, one that explores every opportunity to make us better. I do NOT thinkg TO is a great fit for this team but I appreciate them looking into it. I still think he is a good player and can help another team but we have too many weapons who will want the ball as it is so I'll be surprised if we sign him.
I agree, TO would be poison to Mark. That's the last thing we need, some whiny old receiver screaming in Mark's ear.
I highly doubt TO will be coming here. He's not necessary, and the risk would outweigh the reward, imo. The FO is simply exercising due diligence, like they have been all off-season with 50 other available players.
At this point in his career, I don't think TO is the team cancer that he used to be. He's older and wiser now, and we've seen from his time in Buffalo that he can contribute and keep his mouth shut, even on a bad team with a bad offense. I believe at this point in his career, TO just wants to win. I don't think he's going to poison Mark Sanchez's feeble little brain, as many people do think. Give Sanchez some credit. Look the Front Office knows a lot more than we do. If they're kicking the tires, fine by me. If the Front Office thinks TO can help the team, I'm on board too. It's low risk/high reward. The only issue I'd have with this signing is if it gets done before the Revis contract gets done.
Yeah ... Great idea ... let's bring in 14 wr's, but at the same time leave no depth at RB. This is idiotic. If Greene goes down we're in big trouble. I said it before and I'll say it again ... letting TJ go was the single most stupid move of any NFL team this offseason. We're playing without a net and that worries me. TO doesn't make us a better team except for the first 4 weeks. After that, he's nothing but excess baggage, excess headaches and excess distractions that we don't need. Are we planning on using more than one ball this year?
I wanted to keep Jones but we'd have the same depth whether we let him go or not. Jones would have been the part time back in LT's role.
T.O. will nto becoming to the Jets. It would be a complete fucking disater if he comes here. Our number one game plan will be running the ball, thats what we do. Sanchez is still only in his 2nd year, while he has progressed tremendously he is still a sophmore. If we have Holmes, Edwards, Owens, Keller, Cotchery, and our game plan is running the ball and possesion of the ball by running the clock not all of these guys are going to be happy. Considering T.O. would be 3rd or 4th on the DC, he will not be getting targeted or getting the ball nearly as much as he was in Buffalo, this will resuly in no other than another TO bitch fit. Somehow if he does get all his balls then were leaving someone else out and who knows what can happen with two guys playing on one year left on their contracts. We are going to stick with what got us to the AFCCG, pounding the rock, we will not have the ability to get the ball to everyone each game so they can all put up there numbers. NO TO T.O.
We have the same amount of depth at RB as we did last year. Letting Jones go was a shame, but it was all about the money. I'm confident in our RB corps this year.
Maybe true ... but TJ never gets hurt and LT always seems to be sitting on his helmet watching from the sidelines. If Greene misses any significant time, I'm not confident that LT can carry the load.
everytime someone has been rumored to be on the jets radar this offseason someone is concerned about what it will do to the chemistry. everybody seems to be fitting in well with each other so far so i doubt bringing in t.o. will destroy that. I just don't see the point in bringing in a guy like this to be the #3 or #4 option at wr. chemistry issues are the least of my concerns for this team.
