Adam Schefter reports the Jets are "exploring" the possibility of signing T.O. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5412850
Dear. God. No. No. No. No. No. No. Oh, and NO! Bengals need to get their s*** together already and take this cancer off the market.
F*CK TO... We had to go and sign that asshat Jason Taylor... that is one asshat too many for me to stomach in one season. The only reason we would have for signing TO is if Coach Ryan didn't think we had the chops for Super Bowl smack or something... cause running his mouth is about all TO is useful for these days.
Like he said ^^^^^ About the only way TO makes any sense for this team is if Ryan wants to start a shit-talking squad. If he wants that, TO would make a great captain..... :breakdance:
Boomer & Carton reporting the Jets are in talks with Terrel Owens.. Wtf? This would be the wrong move.. edit: oops didnt see the ScotsJet post.
I should have been more clear. I love Rex Ryan, don't get me wrong. It's just that the whole Revis thing lately, the Jets are partially responsible for creating the monster, and now with Rex Ryan saying he was annoyed with the injury fake, I just wish everyone would keep their damn mouths shut publicly. It doesn't solve anything.
Well considering he'd be coming in for a very minimal deal, I would hope they'd see the upside of it. I'm not suggesting T.O. is a "Must sign", but this falls into the same type of scenario that both Cromartie and Holmes fell in. It's low risk/high reward. Unlike Dallas,Philly,San Fran. and Buffalo, T.O. isn't a must keep for the Jets.Holmes,Edwards and Cotchery are more than sufficient. If T.O. mouths off, dogs plays, or creates distractions, he's out the door. And he knows that. T.O's "Locker room cancer" reputation is largely overblown by the media. Aside from McNabb and some guys in San Fran most of his prior teammates speak highly of him as a competitor and colleague. I also do not believe this forces the Jets into a "Air it out" type offensive strategy. All this does is upgrade the overall talent on this roster and give Sanchez yet another option in the passing game. If he pouts, makes noise or does anything disruptive, the jets don't NEED him and they can show him the door. Let's not forget that Holmes is suspended the first 4 games..Adding T.O relieves that notion and will allow us another big time option in the passing game during those first 4 weeks which include some tough opponents. When Holmes comes back...oh my...that's an awfully scary core of skill players to try and defend.
No, it's not. I don't care WTF happens on the field, you don't go to the sideline and start tearing into your team mates. You save it for the locker room. But, as we've seen, TO has done this time and time again. He's a 36 year-old child.
I agree with some of what you have to say, but this is now another WR whom has drop issues. Edwards, Holmes, and TO. He would make our receiving corps better no doubt about that, but I think we did fine last year with just Cotchery, Edwards, and Keller. I'm sure Brad Smith could be good for 10 receptions in 4 games. (While we await Holmes) One thing I liked about TO last year was that he played with 3 shitty quarterbacks, and a shitty Oline to protect those QB's. He put up good numbers for those circumstances. Yes I believe the media shit is way overblown, but this is New York. He doesnt have legal issues, but has had major distraction issues that have been rumored to spread throughout the locker room. ... Or atleast that was the 'scape goat'. We got to remember we got a young ass QB, and really dont want him being fucked with. Rumor is he is looking for a contract around 3/4 million dollars which is way too much.
If he signs we have to pray he is over that crap, and knows he's on his last string. Who knows though.. He may not even give a crap if hes cut by a team. TO may just be building his media career, and hell this is a good way to do it.. Go to New York/Hard Knocks.
And again..if he does any of that he's out the door. He'll know that coming in. This is likely his last shot to stick w/ an NFL roster and try to win a championship. He also will come in KNOWING he isn't the best player at his position and is expendable. I would expect T.O. to be nothing but a saint if he signed here...a highly motivated Saint.
Well the media argument IS a good one.He will definitely cause a controversy and keep the spotlight on the locker room. Hell, ESPN will likely permanently relocate John Clayton to Florham park if this occured. But let's face...this team already has a ton of personalties and already plays in NY. W/ this coach and in this city it's already gonna be a media circus. How much more of one will T.O. make it is the big question. I don't think anyone is gonna give him a 3-4 million dollar contract. I think somewhere in the vicinity of 2- 2.5 is more than fair..
I really don't understand how he makes us better. The first four games he fills a gap, but then what? Who's he gonna replace on the field? Holmes? Hell no. Braylon? With all the work he's done so far in the offseason I don't see him losing snaps. Jaco? Guy's money in the slot. Might be the most sure-handed reciever we have. If he's gonna accept 4th on the depth chart then maybe he's an asset, but I don't see the upside. If anything it's a sideways move, and another piece of drama we don't need.
4 WR set...Edwards, Holmes, J-Co, Owens...with Greene in the backfield...explain to me how the fuck you stop that?
I have tended to be less negative on TO over his career than most. His comments about McNabb may have been impolitic, but he was accurate, and he was frustrated that McNabb crapped the bed in the Super Bowl. I would have been, too. The highlights of his "worst" moments imo were really with Philly. Meanwhile he's played some great ball. Can he still? Maybe. And until Holmes not only returns but gets up to speed, the Jets are not deep at receiver.
Wow, really, gtf over it. If Ryan and Tannenbaum don't see a problem why does anybody here? You support everything else they do all the time. They need somebody for weeks 1-4.
Agreed...if TO came here and pulled one of his sideline shit fits I really dont think he'd get away with it. Not with the guys on this team.
Goalline/ 3rd down Set. Schotty wants to go big? Throw Greene and Richardson in the backfield w/ Edwards, T.O. and Keller. Schotty wants to go speed over size? LT in the back field w/ Holmes, Edwards, Cotchery and Clowney/Smith(Who ever makes the team) It's all about match-ups and sub packages. You have potentially this many weapons you can do ALOT of different things on any given play.
