Happy wins Talledega, what a finish....Jeffie Pop and Johnson at it again...Jeffie Pop is gonna pop Johnson soon....
Speed is the fascination, same with IRL racing...watching fast cars go 30 MPH around curves kike they do in F1 just doesn't excite us at all.
Snoozer of a stretch of races....Pocono, yawn, Michigan, yawn, Sonoma, yawn, Louden, yawn.....TNT got mostly shit races to broadcast.
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/marcos-ambrose-signs-big-nascar-deal/story-e6frf9if-1225906831342 driver Marcos Ambrose's star has risen further with a new multi-year deal to drive for Hall of Famer Richard Petty's team in NASCAR's elite Sprint Cup Series. The deal, starting next year, sees the former V8 Supercars champion return to the Ford stable and should enhance his ambitions to become a regular winner at NASCAR's top level. Ambrose will replace Kasey Kahne, who is leaving to drive for Red Bull Racing, and he joins American A.J. Allmendinger as drivers signed by Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) for 2011. RPM is a partnership between Petty and billionaire George Gillett Jnr. Petty is a legend of the sport after winning a record 200 races from 1184 starts over a 35-year career, including seven Daytona 500s and seven championships. Gillett Jnr is well known outside motorsport circles as the unpopular co-owner of English Premier League club Liverpool. Start of sidebar. Skip to end of sidebar. End of sidebar. Return to start of sidebar. Currently in his second full season in the Sprint Cup series, Ambrose has yet to notch a victory there in his Toyota in 70 starts although he's had success in the lower tiers during his five years with the JTG Daugherty team. But he went very close when seemingly set for victory on the Sonoma road course in California in June only to accidentally stall while trying to save fuel in what became known as The Blunder from Down Under. "I'm very excited to join Richard Petty Motorsports,'' Ambrose said in a statement on Wednesday. "It's an incredible honour to be able to race for a legend like The King (Petty) and be a part of this organisation. "I'm also happy to be back with Ford Racing.'' Petty welcomed the Australian. "He's a very talented and passionate driver and will be a great addition to our team,'' Petty said. Not being au fay with in the ins and outs of nascar, i am assuming, a better team and better car with better back up will increase his chances of winning, bit like webber in F1, his first team was just under funded rubbish, he is now in red bull, doing a whole lot better
Ambrose should be in the 9, RPM owns the number...Happy gets the Budweiser sponsor for his 29 next year...by the way RCR own the 3 and Austin Dillon his grandson races it in the Truck series...the kid is pretty good , too!
That's neat. I love Ambrose (no homo) as someone to root for while I wait until february for my driver to come back. He's a great guy.
After last night, I hope NASCAR does something about the racing pairs. That stands an excellent chance of clearing an entire field when it doesn't work; look at the problems top drivers in a half-empty field with top equipment and a new racing surface had. You put some of the other back markers in there trying that, and it'll be a mess. Definitely looking forward to the season, though.
