I'm out in the mountains of northern Cali for the summer and only get to check up on this board ocassionally, and I was really upset to see the headline about LW when I logged on. I'm not surprised it's created a big stir.

I really, really hope that this is only the usual posturing by another money-hungry agent - as some here suggest - and that there aren't truly any hard feelings between Leon and the organization. He's my favorite Jet on the roster and adds an element on offense that very few players can.

I haven't loved every offseason move so far, but I think that the FO and Rex have generally done a great job. If they fuck around and let Leon go I'm going to be incredibly pissed. I think it would be just about the worst thing they could do to the team - and the fans.

    LOCK HIM UP!!!!

    Keep Leon

I don't understand what the FO is thinking. Leon has been a valuable offensive weapon for the jets and to let him go would be a big mistake. The jets take the penny wise and dollar foolish statement to a new level.

We should probably try to trade Tj as quickly as possible. I wanted to wait and see what Clowney/ Stuckey is capable of, but if there is any truth to the Braylon Edwards rumour.......trade TJ; sign Braylon; and sign Leon. Washington's agent is forcing our hand a little bit, and lowering the value for TJ (if any?!?!). We won't sign both (this year or next). Sitting out hurts TJ more than Leon, but if we can move him.......now is the time.

Are you confusing Leon Washington with Thomas Jones.....because Washington has had 3 stellar years in row buddy.

Put Leon Washington and Thomas Jones in a ring with bat with spikes on it a la 'Escape From New York'. Leon wins.

Or the "Dark Knight" when the Joker says is is time for "Agressive expansion.... but we only have one for one more" and throws the two guys a broken pool que. Telling them to "make it quick"

I wish the 'pay the man' people would put an actual $ amount in their post.

I have no idea how much the 'insulting offer' was, but I know it's more than 4th round money. I also don't believe Washington has proved he's worth franchise RB money yet. It's not like he's a huge % of the offense like a Westbrook is. So far, he's been a change of pace back.

I agree - be a man and stand up to the deal you originally made - back in the old days, giving your word actually meant something.
That being said, I think Leon's a great exciting fun-to-watch player - Jets don't have alot of that type.

Hmm, now the Jets' drafting of Greene is interesting. Did they see this coming and draft Greene partly for security/leverage?

as a kick returner YES,,,,,,,i would barely call his RB abilities "stellar"......and NO kick returner is worth 6 million,,,,,,,,gotta have a falloff anyway ala hester

F'em both..play hardball...and NO trade....let em both sit. Who was the last Patriot that pulled this kinda BS?? ......IF they play like shit...they're NOT gonna get paid shit by another team when they leave NY next year anyway

Dude, Leon Washington gives the team energy.

As for calling him only a kick returner, he basically singlehandedly won the Chiefs game for us last year, and without his kick return ability we would have lost the Patriots game.

And that is only two examples.

I agree that Leon is a great football player. However, he will need to show a little more in the offense to prove he is worth extra. Look at other great kick returners, Dante Hall, and Tim Dwight to an extent. Those are just the first 2 that came to mind. When given larger roles in their offenses, neither really showed anything spectacular. Leon will need to show the world what he is worth. The only way this can happen in NY is to rework his current deal, and hope it works out for us. I just re-read the quote, and Hester is another guy that hasn't shown a great deal of potential in the regular offense for the bears. He is pretty much the HR hitter.

Why would Leon Washington be on Facebook? I'm Leon Washington, too. Let me go do that. All of that stuff is creepy to me.
