Switch Harris for Revis and that could be close. A lot of people think Cleveland will have to be involved in any deal and they will have to get a high pick in return. It might be more like this though. #17 and Harris, hopefully not our 2nd in '10. Denver gets Anderson or Quinn from Cleveland. Cleveland gets Denver's '09 2nd rounder and maybe ours from '10. I don't think either Quinn or Anderson is worth a #1.
There's no way in hell the Jets will trade Darrelle Revis. He's arguably the most important player on this team - Ryan is a defensive coach...no way he lets go of a shutdown corner.
For the love of god, please spend two minutes and read the articles that discuss how the Jets worked behind the scenes to get Favre. We are in the exact same place rith Cutler and the Jets will do the exact same thing. Tanny already spilled the beans on his approach to trading for big name players, why all the speculation on what he might to do when he has told us all his approach????
Your point is valid...... scarily so. I was on the Cutler bandwagon, but I'm getting that Jeff George feeling about this guy. hmy: The JETS #1 + Clemmens or see ya later
For a team like Cleveland or Denver who are trying to install a read and react style 34 defense, he does.
Damn Einstein was right Shit is Relative So many different opinions and perspectives and we can't seem to agree on anything in here Anyone who prefers the QB's we have over Cutler is basing there argument on there own emotional stake they have made in this matter. Not what is best for the team They want one of these guys to start and that is that. I think if Peyton Manning became available some of the same people who don't want Cutler wouldn't want Peyton either. Kerry Rhodes got his feelings hurt because an offensive player had the nerve to talk smack and beat them in the process. Defensive players talk shit all game and now he comes across a guy who is willing to talk back and stick it to him and he doesn't like it. SO WHAT. Kerry Rhodes is not a QB. Hell the man is not even on Offense.
I think Revis would be what it takes for Cleveland to deal with us. I certainly don't think Ryan would want to sign off on it, but Mangini knows how desperate Woody is to sell his PSLs and he needs a marquee QB to sell them. I can certainly see Woody pushing a deal that sends Revis and #17 for Cutler.
i would go a little bit higher than that, add in a 2nd next year that could go to a 1st if certain performance requirements are met and he signs a long term deal with the team.
I'm not sure how much this plays a factor but Revis was pretty critical of Mangini's people skills to the media after the season ended. Not sure Mangini would want him and/or if Revis would be willing to report to Cleveland.
Cutler is a franchise QB just entering his prime, I would give up just about anything to get the kind of QB the Jets haven't had since Joe Namath.
Tell me about it. It's unbelieveable how much stuff has come to light about the "behind the scenes" player relations,or lack there of, that took place while he was here.
I don't want to trade Revis like the next guy on this board....but guess what...it's the equivalent of Tanny trading his "left nut" for a franchise QB..there's no avoiding this...to get this guy, the Jets WILL HAVE TO GIVE UP SOME TALENT...and I'm convinced "getting a franchise QB one way or another" is Woody's top priority.....because it translates into PSL sales.
I suppose he could retire and pay back all of the prorated portion of his bonus. That's what happened the last time Denver tried to trade a QB after all. (Plummer) That's how they ended up with Cutler to begin with.
