Do you all want to vote tonight on how many backups we will draft (and how many and at what positions) or if we are going to draft full teams?

I would love to get the first 24 rounds done tonight or tomorrow.

Who is up? Like the Ozzie Newsome pick, DITK. Badly wanted him.

So much for that wishful thinking.

As far as backups, drafting a full roster would just take a long time. It could be done if we all agreed to be here at the same time and we hammered out entire rounds in 30 minutes or less.

We would probably be better off just drafting a few backups.
I suggest a QB, a running back, two receivers (1 WR/1 TE, or 2 WRs), 1 kick returner (unless you already have one, such as Gale Sayers), and two wild card picks (any two players from these positions- OL, DL, LB, CB, S).

As much as Im enjoying this draft, theres no way I would be able to complete a 53 man roster. As for the backups, well see, but my schedule is getting tighter everyday...

We need it mandatory to grab a defensive player or two, especially a nickel CB...

    I would like
    1 QB
    1 RB/FB
    1 WR/TE
    1 OL
    1 DL
    1 LB
    1 DB
1 or 2 wildcards (this is where you can take a KR specialist if you need one)

That puts us at 32 or 33 rounds... if that's still too much then maybe we make it "2 defensive players" instead of 3.

What about only two or three or four wild card picks? Any position.

If everyone is able to find a little extra time tomorrow we could finish the first 24 rounds by tomorrow night. I even propose to knock down the 10pm-10am shutdown to midnight to 8am, chiefly because Memorial Day weekend is almost here and some people may be away. I'd really like to put a bow on the draft ASAP.

I know...we're so close to finishing it up. The "Season" will be fun. This is what I have planned:

I will do a "pre-game show" (or I'll do the first week and if someone wants to do the second week they certainly can do that). Then I will create a thread for each game which will have a poll. I will post each teams roster and basically say "who would win this game). I will then post a thread in the B.S. forum (like Green Machine) telling people to take a moment to vote. I will compile standings with Votes For and Votes Against. This will be the tie breaker if needed for the playoffs. Let me know if there are other things that you guys would want in it.

I guess I can't be pushing for people to get picks in faster and then go away myself for two hours and possibly hold this draft up, so I will PM Murrell my next pick in the event kevin and 1028 make picks before I come back a little after 11pm.

Yes, I'm going to be gone from Friday morning until Tuesday afternoon with no internet access so we need to finish up.

Maybe as you said throw a wildcard pick in there (for guys who want a KR). I vote for having a 25 round draft, and allowing the wildcard pick to go at anytime. So, if Kevin wanted a KR right now he could... and so on.

Reason why I would want the first 24 rounds separate from any "supplemental draft" is because it ruins the strategy of some people. After the last few rounds, the 9th center and 19th tackles went off the board. I will draft my C and LT in the 23rd and 24th rounds. There have been 9 QBs selected. ganooch doesn't have to grab his till the 24th round. This scenario applies to all the positions. Somebody won't have to grab a WR till the 24th round, etc.
It affects the strategy for all of us.

Like DITK just wrote- heck, maybe just one wild card pick is good enough.

The wild card idea sounds very appealing, especially considering the type of defensive scheme I hope on running. If we are to draft backups then I would wish it to be according to the wild card idea.

But I think that the wild cards should be drafted only after our 24 are drafted. Finish what we started first, and then, if we wish, continue drafting backups.

    TE Doug Jolley
    [IMG]

Has poor hands, bad route running, and below average at best blocking. But hey, he's one Jolley guy.

I was just meaning one wild card player. Donnie had mentioned that as a possibility. One extra player at a position of your choice.

Somewhere between 1 and 5 wild card players sounds reasonable.

Understood. I meant 24 as the number before we start with wild card players.

If we draft backups, I think only 1 wild card would be a tad silly. Im not saying we should go all out and draft 53 men but we need to find a happy medium between the two
