Are you going to have PO's and a Superbowl of sorts when it's completed? I went and plugged a couple of names in the Draft Thread, but I deleted them when I realized it was an infamina.
That's an interesting idea...I wonder how it would work with 10 people...maybe a round robin sorta thing to pass the time by until the beginning of the season.
Yes it is, and surprisingly enough everyone has been very dedicated, ususally stuff like this has trouble taking off, well thanks to you Murrell and everyone else for keeping it going
Here's a question for everyone.. Who do you think has been the steal of the draft thusfar? I think Staubach falling this far definitley surprised me.
The thing is that not many people have picked QBs so there will be steals later on for the people who haven't picked a QB yet
Yeah guys like Aikman, Favre, Young will be available for QB-needy teams later (sorry for mentioning names...I'll delete the post if you want but I'm pretty sure everyone knows who those guys are  )
I loved getting Staubach this late in the draft. He's on my top 5 list with Montana, Unitas, Marino, and Elway. I also would have been okay with getting Graham. Then Graham got picked 73rd. The 74th and 75th picks belonged to people who already had QBs and I simply had to take Staubach at 76. A former boss of mine insists Staubach was the best QB of all time. Of course, that boss graduated from the US Naval Academy. I believe Staubach is the only QB who is still ranked in the top 20 all time in passer rating- and he played most of his career before 1978. That is significant because there were major rules changes for the 1978 season which made passing much easier. After the rule changes, Staubach led the league in passer rating for two years and then retired. Was perhaps the best QB at the 2-minute drill. The other big plus is he was a good runner. He ran for 2264 yards and had a 5.5 average per carry and that doesn't even play into the passer rating calculations. Otto Graham at 73 and Don Hutson at 74 would get my vote for best steals.
There are a few other players who should have been drafted a long time ago. I have 5 players in mind who could be considered among the top 40 players of all-time. All 5 of these guys would fit on my team, so I'm hoping to get a couple.
Personally I think Roger Staubach was the best all around QB in NFL history if you take into account mobility, arm, accuracy and leadership. Going in round 8 would make him the steal in my mind. If I had an opportunity to start a team and pick any player in NFL history to start it with Staubach would be the guy. Nice job guys this is a great idea! Nicely executed and well thought out picks.
I f'n wanted Woodson too. I was hoping he would last one more round..damn yes, I agree with him as a CB too
I'm glad everyone is really enjoying this. I'm glad it sparked an interest in a few people who never really reasearched NFL history before. You're all making very good picks. I am truly impressed!!
Woodson, awesome CB, I would have him as a close rival to Deion in the 90s generation, and I had him slated this round, almost took him last round but I felt I needed Williams and wanted to make sure Lloyd did not slip Yeh for me I only really had seen the "greats" from the 70s and early 80s in highlight films, my greatest strength is the early to middle 90s and the last 5 years, I had a lull for a few years in there where I did not watch a lot of football.
I'm really enjoying this draft. I've learned some information about a lot of players already. It's a really good idea, Murrell.
Agreed. Out of my picks, Elway, Payton, and Ogden are the only 3 that I had heard of before this draft. I expect to draft a lot more players that I didn't know of a week ago and it's good to research the legends of NFL football.
that's one of the reasons why i wanted people to post pictures of the guys they drafted. So we could see what they looked like in uniform/action
