I don’t think he is worth $15 million either but down the stretch he will win some big games for Baltimore
If he's on the field. He definitely creates bad matchups, but for that price you need more than a part timer. Baltimore was just more desperate, Joe stuck to his guns and let some other team be dumb. Although I think the glaring mistake was waiting for OBJ instead of grabbing Thielen.
If success is measured by how many flashy names you sign in the off season Cleveland should have more SBs appearances than any other team over the last ten years. Jets offer if there was one I bet was not even close to that. Baltimore panicked to the thought of OBJ meeting with us on Monday and way overpaid to grab him. If JD would have offered such a stupid contract this fan base would want him fired. No smart team would come close to such offer.
This is great news! While I'm speculating, OBJ never seemed like a JD-type guy. But he sure smelled like some Woody genius. Good on JD for dragging the thing on, until another team blinked. Everything else aside, I suspect the Ravens overpaying, may have something to do with luring Lamar back into the fold. .
It was a 1 year deal, let's not act like Baltimore mortgaged their future. We have more guaranteed money invested in Allen Lazard than they do with Beckham Jr.
One is an ascending player who actually blocks and helps in the run game as well as having chemistry with our future Qb. The other is a talented player who is often injured and coming off another ACL so we are clear and he wasn’t worth 18m or even half of that. Baltimore didn’t mortgage their future but they def overpaid based on the market and interest other teams showed for him.
He has 856 yds, 8 TDs and 2 ACL tears in the last 3 seasons. What makes you think he'll make it to those games down the stretch? Not to mention some players don't come back strong right away from ACL surgery, let alone 2 ACL surgeries on the same knee. He'll also be 31 years old in November.
well probably because he did it for the Rams last time out and was a big reason they were able to hoist the Lombardi
Completely overlooking a 2nd ACL, not playing for a year and being over 30 years old He had 288 yds and 2 TDs in the playoffs, Kupp had 478 yds and 6 TDs. Yes he helped some but a big reason they won the SB? Less than 50 yds per game in his 12 games with the Rams and only 1-100 yd game doesn't seem like a big reason to me.
having him with a potential for a big play at any moment helped free Kupp. When he's on the field he is awesome, lets not diminish that cause he signed elsewhere I have concerns about his knee no doubt, I wouldn't give him a long term contract either. The Ravens gave him a 1 year prove it deal. very smart move It would be nice to think about the playoffs someday. In a single playoff game it doesn't matter what a player made that season, or how he acted on an airplane or his age, nothing. The talent rises above all that and OBJ has talent. Good for the Ravens
While I would never minimize his contributions, lets be absolutely clear. Kupp was and is the primary target for the Rams. Kupp help free up OBJ with single coverage, not the other way around, but totally agree he did great in that role. Same role role he was to play for us. He was not to be our number one receiver unlike the Ravens.
