How is it an out. He yelled hah. Oh noez I guess thats interference right? Thing I dont get is how did he think the SS called him off when A) A-Rod said hah and B) When he said it he was nearly on 3rd base. This shit happens all the time but since its A-Rod its the worse thing in the world. Also look where the ball lands when he moves away. I could argue he wouldnt even have caught the ball.

If the offending player didn't have a history of Bush League play it might not be a big deal.

If you saw the game, he was smirking b/c of the huge deal everyone was making out of it. The whole time he kept saying, I didnt do anything.

As much as I dislike the "gamemanship" of what he "supposedly" did, a major league infielder should not fall for it. Just like the hidden ball trick.

But a certain left fielder's antics are simply "Manny being Manny" right?

Come on. Like I said, if the guy wasn't wearing pinstripes, this would not even be news.

And just like JoeJet said, a major league infielder should not fall for something this stupid.

And yeah, ARod was grinning because he was holding back the laughter at the hoopla McDonald was making out of it. Toronto blew the play. If you put all the circumstancial "evidence" aside, this was simply an error.

Not to mention, the ball went right into the same lights that caused a misplay on a ball the night before.

And also, as I said, ONLY McDonald complained, until it became a circus and Gibbons came out, then Clark said a word or two before the umps convened and came up with nothing.

As for a history of bush league play, he's a frigging baseball player. These guys are not supposed to be pussies. It's not football, but for crying out loud, I got banged up playing when I was young. If these bitches can't take things like getting run into, or a guy yelling "hey," or a ball being knocked out of their glove, then maybe they should trade in their spikes and caps for some nice pink slippers and tiaras.

Again, if it were any other team, ANY other team, this would be a non-issue. But it's the Yankees, so this is big news.

It was a routine pop-up, of course he woul dhave caught it. And I heard a reading of the rule on the radio this morning, is the player makes an attempt to distract or interfere with a fielder, it is an automatic out.

When has Manny ever slapped a ball out of an opponents glove? Gave an elbow to a 2b trying to turn a double play or screamed while running the bases in an attempt to interfere with an infielder trying to make a catch? Don't compare the two.

Would you be defending A-Fraud if he weren't in pinstripes?

Baseball has always been about integrity of the game. That's why Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose are not in the HOF. That's why the spit ball is now an illegal pitch and corked bats are against the rules and now why they have stiffer penalties for steroids use. But it's okay to spit on the integrity of the game because they are not supposed to be pussies???? And what about SPORTSMANSHIP????? Give me a break.

Manny was the clown trying to fight Roger Clemens in game 3 of the 2003 ALCS after he leaned into a pitch which was high and no where inside.

Raise your hand if you remember Reggie caught dead in a run down throwing his hip into the ball. During the World Series no less.

The winners write the history books. Arod, not a winner.

Wow :eek:hmy: That's what you come up with? The ball was high and I'm pretty sure Manny was expecting to get thrown at after the whole Pedro episode from the inning before. He ducked and didn't see where the pitch ended up. All he saw was that it was high...

He ducks into the pitch and then takes his bat and points towards Clemens. Im sure your going to defend Manny b/c he's your guy but you accussed Alio of doing the same b/c A-Rod is a Yank. Im not defending A-Rod im just tired of everyone ragging on him when everyone's team has a character acting a fool on the field.

Let me ask the A-Fraud defenders this one question. Derek Jeter is the standard to which all Yankee players should be judged...quite frankly all baseball players...but would Derek Jeter ever have done that?

Once again im not an A-Rod defender im a stop overblowing everything of proportion guy. A-Rod did something which im pretty sure is not new or uncommon in baseball. If Manny did this what is your response?

Based on reputation, not only Derek Jeter, but historical Yankee greats like Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, and recent Yankee heroes like Bernie Williams, Don Mattingly would have WAY TOO MUCH class to do some of the antics that Arod seems to always be around.

Then stop responding. Because if you're not an A-Rod defender then that question wasn't directed towards you :)

Its irritating b/c honestly who gives a shit if yelled out HAH. Its no big deal. Classless antics? Its not that big a deal. The third basemen did not even complain, the shortstop did. The ump didnt hear him what does it matter. I love how everyone will turn a blind eye to others but b/c its the lightning Rod they cant resist to blow everything up. Once again I ask you, if Manny Ramirez does that I doubt you would say it was classless.

This is exactly my POV. I'm only defending ARod because this shit is ridiculous now. The Post story. Him yelling "HAH!" Him sliding hard into second base. Him knocking a ball out of a fielder's grasp.

This is all stuff any of us who've EVER played the game have done.

No, Jeter probably would never do this. Then again, why does ARod have to be Jeter? I mean, if ARod were trying to be like Jeter, he'd get shit for that too.

It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't thing.

Yes, I defend ARod because he's a Yankee. However, I also defend Manny, even though I can't stand the guy.

As for Murrell's question of sportsmanship, is it "sportsmanlike" when Manny waits until a fan has sufficiently caught, inspected, and stowed away as a valued souvenier, his latest home run to leave the batters box?

Like I said, it's when a guy is wearing pinstripes there's a big red bullseye on his chest.

Do you realize what you even said there? Baseball has always
been about integrity but then you go to say the spit ball is now illegal after being legal for 60 years and steroids are now illegal after being legal for as long as they have been around. Where was that integrity then? And calling Arod a fraud is just plain silliness.
