Sadly, he might with the amount of picks they have. They can afford to go after him, and that Stanford connection with Ertz and Harbaugh. Vernon Davis and an Ertz TE set will be pretty nasty.
It would be interesting to see just how many offensive guys were actually on the Jets board in the first round. Or any round for that matter.
Reese meant at the time they picked and I believe Reese because that's his track record. My guess is we did the same thing. We may not have the personal fully in place that Idzik will have ranking the players as we will next year which may have something to do with how the Jets rank the draft?
" ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Jets have made calls to "multiple teams" about trading up from No. 39 in an attempt to select a quarterback. The smoke that the Jets are eyeing a day-two quarterback is turning to fire. Per Schefter, the Jets "debated" West Virginia's Geno Smith at No. 13. The New York Daily News reported Wednesday that Smith was the No. 1 QB on New York's board. With a number of QB-needy teams picking ahead of them, the Jets might not get their man if they can't successfully move up. According to CBS' Jason La Canfora, the Lions are "actively shopping" the 36ht pick, but that might not get the job done for Geno. " So I guess we should presume that Geno is 5th or 6th on the board right?
If he gets hurt again he will play through it and play in the National Championship game, I mean SuperBowl... 5 surgeries in 3 seasons at Alabama and was held out of 1 game (Western Kentucky) in his junior year. I think that is the sign of a dedicated football player and someone I want on the Jets.:jets:
If Austin, Millner and Richardson were three of the top four on the board then clearly the front office doesn't value offensive linemen early in the draft.
Yes, we've entered a new era and the Jets have left the "win now" drafts in the dust. Let the Dolphins try to "win now" and build a team with no depth and with future salary cap problems.
