I don't think the Rangers can afford not to resign Girardi. He is a top ten RHD in the league. RHD are so rare, and Girardi is a good one who can eat up minutes and defend the top lines in the league. Unless they get back a potential #1 RHD for the future, then I wouldn't trade Girardi. There is no one in the system that could replace Girardi in the future, and if the Rangers are going to look to contend, you can't have a huge hole at #1 RHD. The Rangers should look to trade Callahan. He won't hold up for another six years with the style that he plays. The Rangers would need to give him six years to keep him.
Just read one of Cerny's tweets regarding Hank. He's one shutout and 8 wins shy of tying Giacomin and Richter, respectively for franchise records in each category. Essentially making him the most statistically prolific goaltender in Ranger history (minus Richter's Cup of course). Just cool to think about.
27 wins is not too shabby all things considered. what concerns me is 21 regulation losses, that's a lot. I guess they're learning still, can't say i'm unhappy with them right now. they are shutting me up and that's all I want from them.
HA, I knew MR would have a heart attack jut thinking of trading Cally...... I have two tix for tonight in section 109....not going into city from CT in the snow. if anyone wants them, you can have them for 100 bucks each. PM me.
And to address MR's comment about me always being wrong.......Ill just refer to your post last year that Cally and Alfreddson are the two best captains in the NHL BWAHAHAHHAHAHAH The right thing to do is to trade Girardi----and trading Callahan makes a lot of sense. Hes been hurt more and more, his style wont hold up as someone else mentioned and we'd have to give him big, potentially cap-killing money. Hes farrrrrr from an untouchable player so its really not that crazy It would just take some understanding about hockey, th ecap and the NHL
