How the hell is this thread not exploding. This is something special being built but I hope (strome empty net as I type) I hope they do not get too carried away with what those trades brought them at the deadline the past few years You must sign kreider... It reminds me of the jets letting go past pass rushers. You end up chasing what is so rare for years. That's kreider ...very annoying at times...disappears but not in the playoffs...huge with great speed and a bit of a nasty edge. Rare... very. Unless the number is stupid...do not let him go...we will be searching for his equal for some time. Ok...trouba? I want to bust my tv... but something tells my if they get to the playoffs he will play his best hockey. Big...tough...but playing extremely stupid hockey. Every great team needs a lindgren. Staal is shocking me with his strength in the d end Strome has really grown on me...Fast?..what can you say. Great teams need a guy like him. Fox is just so damn complete. Panarin is the best Ranger skill wise since messier. Zibanejad is flying...playing on a different level Goaltending? This kid is the real deal...that deflection save in the first period against Carolina was one of the best saves I have ever seen....I was watching the Carolina feed and the announcer said...the canes need to start going glove side...I just laughed...what a glove Bottom line is if the young kids are this for the rest of the year...and this isnt just a "run" then this team makes the playoffs and that experience is all you can ask for and if the goaltending continues....who knows Never been so excited about the future of this team...tonight's game...they all talked about it feeling like a real playoff game before the game...and man...they were incredible tonight...now they go home and tomorrow night...if they can somehow pull that off...very impressive. Tomorrow's game after tonight will be a tough one ...let's see. Regardless...I'm just really impressed with this team.
The team looks really good right now. Zibanejad is a great player and it's not clear he's the best guy on the Rangers right now.
Welcome back Jay, Igor with 22 saves in the 1st period as Rangers stand there and watch Sharks swarm him
I just love that they're "rebuilding" the right way. Younger and faster.....Just don't get cute before the trade deadline.
Igor saves the bacon, 44 saves, 9-1, 2.23gaa, .940svpct. https://www.nhl.com/rangers/video/recap-nyr-3-sjs-2/t-277437422/c-5282196
They could do worse than lock him up for 4 years and find the cap space elsewhere. With Kreider the Rangers have two "A" lines that have to be accounted for. Without him they're back to one strong line and a depth rotation after that. Good players after the first line but not another strike force in the rotation when Panarin is off the ice.
Kreider signs 7 year deal with the Rangers. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/28772728/rangers-lock-chris-kreider-7-year-extension
I'm glad the Rangers locked Kreider up however the loss of Shesterkin for a couple of weeks really hurts. I guess this is where having Hank + Georgiev as the alternatives gives us a chance of staying in the race. They're both going to have to be on top of it to keep the run we've been enjoying going until Shesterkin gets back and ready to go.
Gotta win tomorrow and at least split the Flyers series coming up. They have some tough sledding in the next week.
Without the Shesterkin injury I thought the Rangers had better than a 50/50 shot at a wild card. I think they still have a real shot now however it definitely got tougher.
