one game does not prove hes ready and yes I do feel the jets owe Sanchez based on the way they screwed him over from the jump.

Holding his hand his 2 first seasons, letting him go expecting him to do much yet take away his weapons and somehow become shocked at the results, and last year....tebow and a complete shitty OC and offense.

This has been said time and time again and with these facts Sanchez deserves to play the season to show what he can do with a legit OC. This is his first time hes able to do just this.

The JETS overall aren't going to anything sweeping this season anyway. Let Sanchez play, if he bombs with this setup, well then its time for him to go. That's all.

I guess having a top o line, top rushing attacking, decent WR's, and top defense was "screwing him over".

He was the 5th overall pick and was supposed to be the franchise QB, at some point they had to give him more responsibility. I didn't agree with how they went about it, but still. Besides LT, Greene, Holmes, Keller, Plaxico, and Kerley wasn't that bad at all.

Last year I can agree with you on to a certain extent. Lack of weapons still doesn't excuse some of the mechanical issues Sanchez has though.

The hell? Plaxico was a joke compared to Bray. Yes, he was a good target in the RZ and helped there but as the season went on age got him. Same for L.T and as the years went on the O-line became shitty too.

And I dont give 2 shits about the defense, im talking offense.......

The QB who had great chemistry with a set or WRs, most of those receivers were taken from him. Thats screwing him over. Going RUN HAPPY is screwing a QB over. Schotty is SCREWING A QB over. Most of those positives you mentioned were in the years he was handcuffed.

The guy finally has some decent sets of everything in a season where he can throw and have play called built around his strengths. He deserves a season of play and after season Jets should make decision to start or not to start.

The Jets made Sanchez rich and famous. In turn he's played like a backup QB for most of his tenure and has been given more opportunity than any QB in modern football has ever been given playing at that level. Sure he's had some moments, but not enough.

They don't owe him a thing.

If one game doesn't prove anything, then why doesn't Rex just name headband the starter now?

for the 1,000th time when Rex talks to the media, he usually means the opposite and that said w/e has already been decided behind closed doors. Hes playing the media and most of the fans. This is what's hes done since day one. Never take Rex P.C seriously.

Even IF you dont beleive that, overall Sanchez IS better than Geno as of right now and he WILL start come the opening of the season.

Plaxico made big catches outside of just the red zone. I remember a key 3rd down catch against the Chargers. There were many good plays he made, for some reason Jets fans underrate his time in NY. I didn't agree with them not bringing Braylon back, I felt it was imperative that Edwards, Holmes and Cotch remained intact.

LT was solid in 2011 as the goal line back.

The O-line was NOT shitty, Jets fans were spoiled by having the best o line in the league for 2 seasons and obviously the Jets weren't able to maintain that. There were far worse o lines in the league than what the Jets had in 2011 and 2012. Sanchez couldn't even perform under a league average o line. He needed a once in a 10 year o line to perform averagely, pathetic.

The only reason the Jets were run happy is because Sanchez can't consistently make good throws. You don't think for a second that Schotty had to use trick plays like the wildcat to help move the chains was because Sanchez can't throw?

That's nice but I said over the years the Oline became shitty and it did. He was constantly under pressure the last 2 years.

Also, I dont care for the reason of going run crazy. As Steve Young said years ago on ESPN, the JETS are killing Mark Sanchez with all the runs and that is not how you develop the QB.

Anyway im done, seriously. It is my opinion that he should start and that's that. Let's see what happens the next game :)

Rex isn't wasting snaps on the 1's to play a trick on people. Don't be ridiculous.

I haven't seen enough of Geno to know Sanchez is better than him now. I do know it doesn't take a heck of a lot to be better than him!

I never understand how a "decent" preformance is thowing an INT? He throws one per game.

The truth of the matter? no matter who starts for the Jets, they will be in trouble.

I don't agree the o line wasn't shitty last year. Did it lack depth? Yes. But not shitty. It just wasn't on the level of the 09/10 o line. I've seen Sanchez get time in the pocket and STILL throw INT's.

So you rather Sanchez sling the ball down field? That has disaster written all over it.

Anyway at the end of the day I do believe Sanchez will start week 1 against the Bucs, which is fine with me. I know at some point in the season Geno will take over.

Spot on. That "they've already made the decision" argument is pretty weak.

Do you not know what the salary cap is? We paid Holmes big money in order to lock up the biggest playmaker on the team. Why? In order to provide a quality supporting cast around Sanchez. At the time we were looking for a #2 WR, Braylon was asking for WR1 money. We had already shelled that out and couldnt do so to another receiver. Maybe Plaxico wasnt the best choice, but the Jets still made an effort to support Sanchez.

You cant say "I dont give two shits about the defense", yet when Im positive much of the reason you back Sanchez is because of the TEAM'S success during his first two years. It doesnt work that way.

Going run happy doesnt screw over a QB who only played 14 games in college. What would you have done, genius? Go pass happy with one of the most raw QB prospects ever? Yeah. Thats smart. Look at Russel Wilson last year- Seahawks went run heavy for the first half, with WIlson playing the game manger role (like Sanchez his first two years). Second half of the year, the Seahawks opened up the play book and expanded Wilson's role (like Schotty tried to do with Sanchez year 3).

Sanchez failed when they tried to rely on him more. Thats on him. His supporting cast wasnt trash that year, it was decent. The Jets needed him to step up and live up to his pay check and draft position year 3 in the same system, and he couldnt.

Well the thing is, watching a rookie make rookie mistakes is a lot easier to deal with than a 5th year vet making rookie mistakes.

OC makes no difference in this case, or little difference. It doesn't matter who your OC is he doesn't have a game controller to force Sanchez not to make stupid throws. Several things have become clear about Sanchez these past couple of seasons.

    1) he decides what he's doing with the ball before the snap.
    2) he locks on to one receiver, which leads to point 3.
    3) he doesn't see the field or the plays developing, how many times have we seen him locked on to a receiver and force a throw in to double or triple coverage when there's an uncovered receiver who's basically in his field of vision.
    4) If he gets any sort of pressure, or perceives any sort of pressure, he rushes passes and makes poor decisions.
    5) he's consistently unaware of the game situation, as illustrated when he let time expire on the goal line.
    6) #5 points out that he has no internal clock that a good QB should have, that tick tick tick in his head.
    7) and this relates to all of the above, he can't read defenses worth a shit.
    8) wtf is his deal with pump faking wide open receivers? This goes back to point 7 and point 3. It also says that the game has never slowed down for him and he's not seeing the plays. I still laugh, and cry, when I watch that triple pump fake to a triple covered receiver all the while staring down that one receiver....

He's been a turn over machine over his career and you just can't blame that on coaching. in fact his turnovers would be even worse if they hadn't backed off his play book several times and reeled him back in.

Geno, he's a rookie, he'll make rookie mistakes. That's to be expected. It's easy to forgive a rookie, or even a sophomore player, for rookie mistakes. It's hard to give a 4 year veteran that same kind of carte blache.

If there was anything statistically to back up your argument I'd buy it, but there's not. His entire career has been basically a flat projectory with normal statistical noise variation and a couple of outlying stats that were exceptions.

The fact is he did not throw more interceptions last year than he had thrown any other year (save 2010 where he only had 13 picks but had a ton of dropped picks that year). He's had 3 of his 4 seasons of 18+ Interceptions and is often near the top of the list in dropped interceptions.

He's always been within the statistical variance of +/- 1% or so of 55% completion rate (most QB's actually have a higher fluxuation in that but Marks been remarkably consistent in that area). He's always been remarkably inaccurate with his short to medium ranged passes compared to the league and about average in his deep pass capability.

He's always had around 11 or 12 fumbles (combined rushing and QB fumbles).
He's never had an average DVOA which means basically he's never performed above average replacement level.

He's always had the physical tools to succeed, but so did Jarmarcus Russell and Ryan Lief, among many many others. Almost every QB ever drafted had the tools to become at least an average NFL QB. But it takes more than having the tools to become an average or better NFL QB and after 4 years we've never seen Mark show that with any sort of consistency. Yes he's had a few games here and there that showed you what his tool set could allow him to be, but the flaws in the mental part of the game and the reactionary part of the game have meant that he makes enough mistakes to far offset what he does positively.

LOL, a run happy offense that limited mark to under 400 pass attempts and he STILL threw 20 interceptions, can't imagine how many that would have been had they let him go pass happy.
