Excellent point regarding the travel that I never saw mentioned before, or thought about. I was an active fan in those days and yes, I was picked in the ticket lottery and had SB tickets for the Rose Bowl, if... What a shitshow that would've been for me and my friends (college age at the time). We booked a flight - had to because of the short one-week turnaround, but there were no hotel rooms anywhere near Pasadena. We would have slept in a rental car. Or under a palm tree. Of course I thought the Jets would've won had they made it. Looking back? Not so sure.
Under a palm tree…..lol. We’ll look at it this way…imagine they got the SB - you were there - and they won. You would be telling people today … way back in 1982 the last time the Jets won a SB I actually slept under a palm tree but it was well worth it… LOL
For me personally it is the roughing penalty against the Browns. Why- the Vinny and Rodgers injuries negated could have been’s but anything could happen no guarantee as well as some of the others even though they were painful. The Jets had a second round playoff game in the bag that was given away by that penalty.
That got my vote too. That was my first sports debacle loss, and I still wear the scars from that one. It was the absolute lowest I ever felt after a losing game.
At the time Belichick resigning didn’t hurt that much for fans. That one only hurts if you are looking back from the future Some of those others hurt hard in the moment
