Agree with the last sentence. Plus, imagine him and Jenkins double teamed frees up someone. But yes, it's a pipe dream that can't happen.

If we don't have anybody to cover the middle it won't matter how many pass rushing OLB's we have on the roster. That's what happened this past year with Pace. He was forced to drop back into coverage for more than half of the season. Thomas was also playing coverage a good amount of time.

Peppers would be the only notable DE who wants to make the transition to OLB for a 3-4 team. I don't know he'll do it, but if you ask me, he's got the athleticism to pull it off...eventually. But he'll want more money than a Bart Scott. Not to mention that'll still leave the middle open for teams to attack us in the passing game.

So Bart Scott really is the way to go here.

Sutton is only around for continuity's sake. He will have little to no effect on the defense. That's up to Ryan and Pettine. Scott will make a huge and immediate impact on the defense. He's a better investment than Peppers and Suggs, given the fact that he'll come more cheaply and we don't have a serviceable ILB next to Harris anymore. With a better duo inside, I think you'll see Pace's role change into what we all thought it would be. We could also use an asskicking LB in the corps to put some pressure on Gholston. As much as I love David Harris, and was impressed by Calvin Pace, I'm not sure they bring the same fire in the locker room that they bring on the field.

Not saying he's not a really good LB but with all the money we've got invested in Pace, and Gholston(I cringed writing that) can you really see us spending big bucks on another LB?

If given the choice between Ray Lewis and Bart Scott, Id go young everday of the week. I think that statement is a little cocky , but his production matched his mouth. would he strap us thou and would our ability to pick up others guys be effected by his price tag??

Actually, I do think he is a little over rated. Having said that, he would still be an upgrade over Barton, and don't even ask about Bowens when he tried to fill in for an injured Harris. We will likely have to over pay him, but it's a major need, and he'll play well enough.

  8. I'd rather have Scott than Ray Lewis. He comes w/ a chip on his shoulder and although he may not be a star....he is a young solid player w/ alot of great years in front of him.

hayneworth is big enough to play NT

  10. But we also have Jenkins..who has already proven to be a dominant player at the spot when healthy. Put Haynesworth at De...take up even more space and disrupt.

  12. I could see him in Detroit(Scwartz wants to add size to their D and they have the cap room), AZ( As a "final piece/over the hump" type siging, or Miami.

He's back to coaching the linebackers, which he did well before being promoted to DC. Essentially, the concern is that in that capacity, he'll have an influence over Scott. However, he was a good LB coach for a number of years for us. However, I'm convinced he took the position to maintain some continuity on the coaching staff on that side of the ball. As far as I can recall, we didn't retain a single other defensive coach. He's also the senior defensive assistant, or some such position, which is really just a fluff title to get him to step down.

This is what drives me nuts on this message board. WE WILL NOT be able to sign Haynseworth OR Lewis, nevermind both of them. If we get Scott, Leonahard and a FA CB that would max out the cap. The NFL is NOT Madden and this isn't Play Station.

I met him a few years ago, a former Ravens LB Ed Hartwell is from Vegas and does a charity event with some guys from the Ravens and other teams. He and Scott played against each other in college and Scott was there. It's for children so I think Scott is probably a good guy off the field too. He seemed like a nice guy but you could definately see he was a fun guy to be around. I read something about him seperating guys helmets from their heads during training amp. Good thing Cedric Houtson retired......

I remember that..... didn't the ref refer to Bart as boy or some shit like that? If I remember correctly that was the bullshit 4th down call that handed the Pats that game.
