First Place?? What is the OP talking about? ... Hasn't he heard that we suck now? We lost 2 games! TWO!!! Sure we went to 2 consecutive AFCCG's under this regime, but so what? Revis, Harris, Greene? ... I guess they forgot how to play since January. D'Brick, Scott, Moore ... worthless. Sanchez, LT, Mangold, Holmes ... can't play. I don't know how it happened, but somehow our roster and coaching staff went from being a SB caliber team to not being able to compete anymore. Why even show up next Sunday? What's the point? This fanbase has way too many whiny crybabies! Just because we lost a couple of games it doesn't mean we don't have good players on this team, and it doesn't mean we wont be in the playoffs again. And even if we lose at NE, that doesn't change. It will take 8 more wins to get to the playoffs. It doesn't matter what order they come in. I can't stand these guys who jump on and off the bandwagon depending on what happens each Sunday. Either you think this team is good enough to win 10 games or you don't.
I think we will fair much better with elite offenses than we did against the Ravens. I have faith in our D in spite of how bad we have been at stopping the run.
How is it worse than all this stupid shit about us finish 6-10 and trading for up for Luck? We lost 2 games it's not the end of the world. Yeah our offense was awful, but are you really ready to give up on the team after 2 losses?
I'd love to be as upbeat as you, but from what I've seen, Rex can give the hairdryer treatment a million times over, its not going to be cured by next Sunday. The only way we win the Pats game is if we do a 'Ravens' and get the D into the endzone. NO confidence in our O, at all.
That last paragraph is the problem, though. Before the year, we all wanted to win the division, which would mean 12 wins, at a minimum. Now, we're content with just making the playoffs. That's how bad it's gotten in just 2 games.
I honestly think this team can beat any team in the league. We got crushed by the Pats last year and came right back and knocked them out of the playoffs. I remember the same crap going on after that Pat's lost. The team is going to lose some, but I honestly don't think we are as bad as we have played the last two games.
So.... For outside linebacker are we really using Westerman on the OLB position? He has shown much so why not Try Mauga and ....Move are LB's around Mauga Harris or Scott( really slow i know) on the Outside spot on any given play ....

How do you come to that conclusion? I'm assuming through observation of the teams play relative to the opposition. If you don't think the team is that good after watching them play how does that make you a fan who is jumping off the bandwagon? I have watched Jets teams that outright sucked for all 16 games rooting for them while knowing they sucked every week. I have no problem listening to the music and eating and drinking from the lossers bandwagon. I'm a long time Jets fan if I wasn't willing to do that I would starve. I'm of the opinion that we aren't good enough to win 10 games in a normal NFL year but the quality of play throughout the league is so shitty at this point we might well back in being not that good? We will see how long it takes for all the teams to get up to speed. If we can pull a few more games out of our ass while we improve who knows? Honestly, right now we don't look like a good football team. Mangold gets back, a couple of our young lineman stop sucking, who knows? Miracles happen just like shit happens.
its not giving up its being realistic. mangold is not back yet. we wont know til gametime most likely. if hes not back, this is a huge problem, as we saw sunday night. and yes, before you go on about how terrible the pats d is, i know this. we also have an offensive line that is downright awful right now. guys are getting to our qb in 2 seconds flat. thats pathetic. and yes, our d bounced back somewhat last week, but its still not what we thought it was, and suffered a major loss this past week. things are not looking in our favor. And another thing, does this look anything like last years team? idk if you have been watching, but this team is a shell of last years team. we cant run, we cant protect marky mark, and schottenheimer cant call a game to save his life right now. Does this paint a bleak picture? fuck yeah it does. its damn awful. if you dont see this, then you need to take a long hard look at the first 4 games again. all that being said, its still a divisional game, and we all know anything can happen, so of course we have a shot. in fact, we have a better shot than normal in these circumstances because we know the opponent so well. no one wants you to be right more than me when it comes to that score prediction, but "win one for the gipper" type threads like this are just sad. we are a more intelligent football fanbase than that. and the bottom line, we still wouldnt be in first. buffalo would maintain first place due to common opponents (raiders). so this thread is still a fail no matter what.
Just for the record, it's not possible for the Jets to be in first place in the AFC east no matter what scenerio plays out. Pats win, they lead. Bills win, they lead. Pats lose, Jets win, Bills lose. Bills still lead.
I think what the OP is trying to say is that we lost to Oakland in a tough environment, on a west coast trip, where the defense honestly looked slow to the edge, and we made tons of mental mistakes, and we lost to a ravens team that is solid and historically has played great in primetime games. Everyone seems to ignore that the Jets D smothered the Ravens O, the same ravens O that put up 30 points on the steelers D week 1. If we have to lose games its not a season killer if we lose back to back away games to non-divisional opponents. We played well enough to beat the Raiders, but we went down trying to make plays, and you cant bash the team for doing that (ahemm Joe Namath). In the Ravens game the first play of the game really set the tone for the entire game, and we completely lost our confidence, and lost in the trenches to one of the best D-Lines in Football. Its not like we lost back to back games to the 09 Bills!! Basically all im saying in this long rant is that although im not big on hypotheticals, you have to believe in our team. We have been spoiled with what they have given us the past few years, all of us walked around with a little pep in our step, their swagger has rubbed off on us. SO WHAT if we lost 2 non divisional games! Were going to go up to foxboro and fight it out tooth and nail with the Pats and if we come out with a victory were 1-0 in the division with the Pats already having 2 losses by week 5, and tied with with them in the W-L columns. After everything we went through the past 2 weeks we can still position ourselves to really control our own destiny through the rest of the season!
