Well, we can get the series split tomorrow now.

Cano had a huge game, 4-4. Hopefully he can carry that forward now.

    Another great pitching performance overall.

We still need Alex back. Last I saw this afternoon, he's not expected back until Tuesday.

That very comment proves why it is no fallacy. Why does it take until his contract year to figure out what needs to be done? He is a Stanford graduate after all. In any event, I'll take whatever he gives us now. I just wish he pitched smarter in the playoffs over the last 7 years when it really mattered.

Mussina has been our best pitcher the last month or so, he has been a losing streak stopper. He's doing more than we could have asked for. The pitching hasn't been bad, inconsistent at times but not bad. If we can stay w/in striking distance while the bats are beat up we'll be in good shape.

What he's "figured out" is how not to be stubborn, nothing more.

All he's doing differently is not trying to force pitches that aren't working for him that night. If he throws his fastball early and it doesn't do what he wants, he doesn't throw it again. He does the same thing with all of his pitches now.

It's simply a matter of him facing the fact that he's not going to have his best stuff every outing, and this is the way to compensate.

Again, I firmly believe that the whole "contract year" business is a total fallacy.

Girardi's pre-game pep talk got us 2 runs...But hey we won.

I take a jab at Robinson and he comes thru with a 4-4 game...Very happy to see him pass .200

Wang has been our best pitcher over the last month and if you want to use ERA which I know you love to do it's almost by a factor of 2-1. 2.18 vs. 3.90.

I have to agree with you. Wang has been, by far, our best pitcher all season so far.

Moose has been amazing, but Wang has still been much better. Especially lately where he's almost impossible to score on.

Kennedy on tap today. Unfortunately, it's against Kazmir. I just hope he pitches well so we don't have to hear the "bust" talk again for another week.

Game starts at 4:10. I hate those mid-afternoon starts. Either 1 or 7, some of us have to commute underground, damnit.

I don't know. He doesn't seem to have much Wang in him.

So Kennedy, everybody's idol here had another magnificent outing I see. At least he lasted 5 innings instead of only 3 and gave up only 5 runs instead of his usual 8. I'll take Igawa over that garbage any day. What a shame when the bullpen has been pretty good too. Another nail. Send him to KC or Atlanta or somewhere else where nobody cares and he will become a superstar but he will never be able to pitch for the Yankees.

hahaah no offense don but sixfeet made me chuckle a bit with the stubborn retard thing......although i must admit, im borderline stubborn retard......I dont see the kennedy attraction...23 years old or not......but it is very early...we're not going to make the playoffs this year anyway so we might as well see if he can turn into something. I predict he wont be much.

I didn't get to see any of Kennedy's performance, so I can't make an honest evaluation. Obviously, when you give up 5, including 2 homers, you didn't have your best stuff.

Was he really that bad though? Leiter said he saw positives. In Girardi's post-game, he said he felt Kennedy's only bad inning was the fourth.

Here's the thing with Kennedy, he's a Moose clone. I know we've discussed this before, but it bears repeating. He's never going to be a dominating force on the mound. He's going to throw a lot of crap in different combinations to try to keep the opposing hitters off-balance.

Is he ever going to be a regular 15+ game winner? I think so. He could still flop, but I don't know if we can say that yet.

As much as I don't like Singleton, he made a good point after the game. The Yankees have to give this kid some breathing room. Yes, I know it was Kazmir on the mound, but still. You have to score some runs. 8 runners left on again. That's inexcusable. What's Santana going to do to us?

The Yankees should be truly ashamed of themselves right now. The entire offense is playing AAA ball. If they can't score more than 2 runs how can any of their pitchers be expected to win? In all four games against TB they didn't score more than 2.

The rotation has been pretty good. The pen has been excellent. Yet, we're still in last place, and 2 under .500, why? We can't hit. Hell, if our opponents set up a tee we'd have a tough time stringing together hits.

I'll start worrying about the pitching when this team proves it can generate a lead. A pitcher can't blow what he never owns.

5 hits, 1 walk in 5 innings. Obviously you can't exclude the runs, but those are good numbers, too. He threw strikes.

And Don is unbelievable. Not only is this guy, who actually had a few solid starts last season, already a total bust, but he'd rather see Igawa pitch? Igawa has done nothing but suck! Unbelievable. Just unbelievable.

And if you don't have faith in Kennedy, that's fine. It's completely unfair to write him off this quickly, but the kid was good enough in AAA, good enough in every other minor league level, and good enough in college to get an extended shot. Most people don't think he's an ace, but there's no reason he can't be a pretty good starter if he's given the chance.

I just do not get how people can give up on teams, players, etc... so quickly.
