So, Since Chad had better numbers than Roethlisburger, Brees and Manning he is better.

    Awesome. now I understand football.

There is no reason to bash Sanchez because he doesn't have crazy good accuracy like Pennington. Pennington could have been something great, legendary even, but thats it, "could have", we'll never know because the dude is made of fucking glass, now go away.

Pennington was never going to be great or legendary.

Good was his ceiling. He was a good QB.

Your entitled to have an opinion. But let's look at the important stats. How many AFC championship games did he get to in his career????

Probably not... the stat column doesn't tell you what games they played in, and apparently this troll doesn't watch football. He just reads the stats.

Its typical that people pick and choose whether they are right or wrong. ChadP still leads the league in accuracy, but he will/would never be better than what he was already.

I will say, Sanchez is playing on a much better team than most of the teams Chad played on. With the exception of the 2004 team, the Sanchez led Jets are a better overall group than any group Chad played with. I would consider the 2004 team on par with 2009-2010. That's not saying the 2004 D was as good as 2009 or 2010, but the overall talent level should be considered on par.

With a better (or healthier) QB, the team should have beaten Pitt and competed with the Pats.

If only those stats were sustainable. Unfortunately, Chad's first year as starter was the best year of his career. After that, it was injury after injury and he never did regain that form with the possible exception of 2008, his first year with Miami.

Statfan.......One who never played a game in his life. Stats tell him all he needs to know to completely understand the game of football. Thinks cause and effect don't apply to football. Synonyms: clueless, moron, geek.

Its appropriate to say guys like Pennington, Marino, Peyton Manning (pre-Superbowl victory) are better passers. That said, I think when people compare Quarterbacks in general, they imply that is that clutch aspect with their greatness. To be honest, why the hell is Namath even considered one of the greatest QBs? Its because he lead the Jets to the SB and won it...he's clutch.

Sanchez might not be as good of a passer as Pennington, but thus far, he has been a better overall QB in my eyes. Not to mention he didn't have a Curtis Martin like run game to help him (at least this year).

I would argue that our 2002 team was even more stacked than our 2004 team. Chad had an all-pro OL, a soon to be HOF RB in his prime, and Coles/Moss/Chrebet. They also had a solid defense.

What the troll doesn't mention (or likely understand) is that, even in his uninjured prime, you only needed to get up by 10 points on the Jets for the game to be over when playing against Chad.

After being down 24-0, anyone that doesn't agree we'd be playing this Sunday if only Mark had got the ball one more time, is an idiot.

Sanchez does play better than Chad. He's a better big game QB by a landslide. Chad couldn't even win playoff games.

That's a relief... Hope the "active rest" he's been prescribed doesn't get too much in the way of his off season preparation but my guess is it shouldn't be too much of a nuisance.

This will be the first off-season he can truly focus on becoming a better QB and not have to intensively rehab...

    lmfao. jesushhhhhhhhhh. so true though.

chad pennington was a great competitor, and he will be a great coach someday.. he knows the game of football.

mark sanchez on the other hand, has a high ceiling. he still has yet to even touch it.

for a quarterback that only had 16 regular season games for experience coming out of USC, he has impressed me with his play whether or not its consistent. if you look at other teams that have taken quarterbacks in the 1st rd in the past 5 years almost half of them have not panned out. Whereas we have a quarterback that has a great work ethic and a desire to compete and willingness to be coached:

    2006- VY, Lienart, Cutler.
2007- Jamarcus "Captain Skittlers" Russell, Brady Quinn
    2008- Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco
    2009- Stafford, Sanchez, Freeman
    2010- Sam Bradford

i included stafford, because he's only played in 13 games the past seasons; you can blame that on a lack of an offensive line, but he has not been a starter for a complete season yet.

i feel that we are in a good position with sanchez. & the comparison between sanchez and pennington make no sense.

You're not going to pay Mark Sanchez anything, you're just going to whine on the internet because he doesn't dump the ball off 3 of every 4 passing plays to pad a useless stat. Winning matters. Stats are window dressing.

jury is still out on Stafford. He can play. He just needs to not be a glass jar.

But his intangibles don't touch Sanchez's.
