I'm now hearing that Carpenter may pitch tomorrow night. Normally I wouldn't put any credence in such an idiotic move, but it's exactly the kind of thing Larussa would do to show how much smarter he is then everyone else.
Another problem with this rainout other than the fact that it completely messes up our rotation plans is that since we are playing 5 days in a row it will effect how Willie works with the bullpen and how long he stays with a starter
Because he's thrown over 100 pitches in both his starts against SD and pitching him in Game 1 would mean starting him on 3 days rest twice in a row. It's moot at this point anyway as I believe Weaver has been announced as the starter.
oh, I thought you meant Game 2. He was initially scheduled to pitch Game 3 on 5 days rest, but now he can pitch Game 2 on 4 days rest instead.
I really doubt it...it would screw with the schedule too much. Besides, weather.com says it shouldn't rain tonight.
Just throwing this out there for the Mets fans... http://cgi.ebay.com/4-New-York-Mets...ryZ16122QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem 215 for the 4 it looks like--thats well below face value...
Just a notice to Mets fans--prices are dropping on stubhub again. About 50 tickets now available at 75 each.
I heard that it is because the Mets brass were bitching that they won't be able to fill the house on short notice if their game was at 4.
If this is true it's idiotic. I'm sure the players will be thanking them when they're landing in St Louis at 5am on Saturday morning with a game to play that night.
Same for both teams ... I doubt that getting a full house was the issue - the tickets are all sold, and there will certainly be well over 50,000 under any circumstances.
I'm not saying it gives one side or the other an advantage but it's still not going to be pleasant for the players. Anyway, I'm much more inclined to believe that FOX was paranoid about not having a prime time game on Friday night then the Mets were worried about not having a full house at 4.
