I thought McCarver was going to launch into another ridiculous "confidence" speil after Buck brought it up but he proves that even a blind squirrel can find a nut when he pointed out that the 11 runs tend to do wonders for a pitchers confidence.

i think he did a hell of a job going almost going 6 when nobody expected him to go 3 innings. The bottom line is that were ahead and even though he pitched like crap, were still alive

Okay, when you can reconcile "I think he did a hell of a job" with "he pitched like crap," let me know.

The bottom line is Oliver Perez pitched good enough tonight. The best thing is he went 5 and 2/3 innings, which meant the Mets didn't have to go to the bullpen early.

*Ding ding ding* We have a winner

He didn't have to be great tonight going against Reyes. He had to be good enough, and eat up a few innings. He did just that.

    Jordan just fumbled!

Broncos are in position to maybe score a TD here and get the cover.

How about this: he was a helluva lot better than Steve Trachsel, and the Mets bats breaking out allowed him to eat some innings.

3rd touched on it... the Cards bullpen was pitching way beyond where they should have, this has bullpen collapse all over it. Throw in the fact that we are going through a bunch of them and we now have a series.

Yeah that works, too. However, Perez was pitching alright before the Mets broke it wide open.
