I agree and that is the saddest part of all, Maine and Perez the 2 most unlikely candidates came in and pitched the game of their lives, the strength of our team came up small when we needed them most
Maybe but I doubt it matters anyway, sure our pitching staff would look better, but other than Maine in game 2 which was cancelled out by Carpenter anyway, Trachsel who has lost all respect from me, and Glavine who would be our #2 anyway our starters have been good enough to win every game, Floyd has been off all year long so I can't see myself thinking that Floyd would have made a difference anyway
Well boys I normally don't do this but I'm drinking myself to sleep tonight, this loss hurt me in more ways than just being a fan.
I hate the whole damn crew. Kept calling a huge strike zone and those idiots don't know what a check swing is
I kind of agree. Mets fans would be screaming bloody murder about Wagner for weeks. Now they can't say much because most of them were probably pleased to see Heilman and not Wagner.
that's not true. The Cards would've gotten in almost certainly. The Astros failed to force the Cards to make up the SF game, which StL would've won. Even if there was a miracle and SF won, there would've been a playoff.
One ting is for sure. Good ting Wagner didn't blow it or else we'd have to hear "Fire Willie" all off season.
oh hell no. Perez did his best to lose Game 4, but our bats saved his sorry ass. A few solid starts, but don't go overboard here.
if there really is a god out there, could He please drop a large, heavy object on Brandon Tierney? Thank you
He got hit around after we gave him a huge lead, if it was closer we would have not even sent him out in the 6th inning, our starting pitching other than Trachsel was far from our problem
I'm sorry, but Perez was terrible. I refuse to say he had a solid start when he got hit so hard. I don't care if the Mets were up by 50 runs. That was a bad performance
Yea but it don't mean shit now there on there way to the WS. The cardS did not beat the mets the mets beat them selfs. You don't leave the bases juced two times and come away empty handed Thats what makes great teams great they can pull the trigger.
If you take out Perez after the 5th he would have given up only 3 runs, not I am not calling his start masterful like FOX was, but he kept us in it for us to get the chance to blow it wide open, if he had given us a Trachsel like performance in that game and got killed early especially after we used up Oliver the night before, we would have lost that game, and probably not even get out of St. Louis
that fucking sucked. if you cant score with the bases loaded and one out, TWICE, then you don't deserve to win.
I have to say, I have never been more embarrassed or disappointed in the Mets or being a Mets fan in my life. Game 7, NLCS at home, what you have played the entire year for up to that point, and you score 1 run and only get 2 hits through 8 innings. it was Jeff Supan for crying out loud, and we made him look like Orel Hershiser. I didn't think losing to the Dodgers, who we beat 11 out of 12 in the regular season, in 88 could be toppped. this is the worst loss in Mets history. worse, it let Braden Looper play in a World Series. this team was gutless. it didn't look like they had a plan at the plate the entire night. what pitch was Beltran looking for in the 9th. 85 mph breaking ball down the heart of the plate wasn't good enough? you didn't see that coming? and nice to see Reyes trying to win the game with every swing of the bat, regardless of the inning. he was trying to rip a HR with every swing it seemed. yes, the HR in game 6 was great, but when you get on base you make things happen. I'm so angry I can't sleep, and will probbaly only make myself seem like an idiot if I keep rambling, so I'm done.
