This guy sounds as smart as a door knob. Not liking the fact that he's not a good recieving threat. Him and Sanchez are both 1 year wonders which is pretty scary.
He's a powerback - maybe finally we'll have a legitimate goalline back... This guy also rarely fumbles the ball - very important for a ball control offense.
This guy sounds similar to Lamont Jordan but without the speed. I actually heard he has good hands in receiving...hmmmm
Moreno was a one year wonder as well. Watch the tape, this guy is legit! He gives us our own "Earth, Wind, Fire". Not to mention, whoever wrote this "review" is a moron. Watch Greene's tape and tell me he doesn't have balance. I've coached Running Backs for years now, this guy has very good balance. He's not afraid to drop a hand down and keep going, he OWNS the sideline, and he doesn't have any 'quit' in him. It will be difficult to find any tape of Greene getting tackled by just one player. This is an excellent move.
3 picks for him was a huge mistake given the team's weaknesses. That said, if he is productive and powerful we won't care. I kind of have this Curtis Martin feeling about this pick. He's not the great back that you want as a franchise back but he seems to do the job despite that. Maybe he'll be a Jerome Bettis type for us.
Bro, not for nothing, but by reading your posts you don't like anything. what would you rather us do?
It was actually 2 picks. You can't count the 3rd rounder. How exactly is it a "huge mistake"? I agree that there are other needs, but WHO would you bring in to fill those needs in round 4 + 7? Gilbert would have been gone at our 3rd round pick, and the fact that Ryan didn't take him after running his workout says a lot to me.
Not true... I said I liked the Sanchez pick .... I think we still could've gotten a good RB (maybe not as good as Greene but who knows) and we needed that 4th rounder cause we have needs... This year we'll have a good team but one injury and we are screwed...
Exactly, the way Ryan is setting up the team, he wants to win games with shut-em down defense and an offense that can stay on the field and eat clock. Greene gives us something we need and didn't have...a player to get those tough 3rd-and-short yards and a bulldozer in goal line situations.
Wouldnt it be nice if we look back in a few years and realize that we got our 'Troy Aikmen and Emmitt Smith', so to speak?
Here is something I never heard about the kid, and this says a lot. I coached 2 kids that ended up leaving their scholarships behind because of grades and never went back to school. ___________________________ " Greene was the Big 10 Offensive Player of the Year last year after rushing for 1,850 yards on 307 carries and 20 touchdowns. His 2008 season was a comeback for him after he was ruled academically ineligible in 2007. He left the University of Iowa for a year and went to Kirkwood Community College, where he didn't play football, instead concentrating on grades. He also worked at McGregor's Furniture store to pay his way through Kirkwood. "It just shows never give up on your dreams, anything is possible," Greene said. "With a little hard work and dedication you can get anywhere you want to be." Greene is from Sicklerville, N.J. about 25 minutes from Philadelphia. He grew up in a house of Eagles fans, but Greene said he never had any allegiance to an NFL team - until this morning. "Now it's the Jets," he said." ________________________________________ http://www.nypost.com/seven/04262009/sports/jets/jets_take_iowa_rb_greene_166340.htm
