So the writer included the Jets to get views, how original... Jets neither won or lost. They kept Sione which they needed to, traded for Tebow which is pending results, signed Landry which is pending health, and signed Schillens pending health.
Is anyone remembering the draft is a couple days away and we will have a chance to full in all those spots everyone needs to stop over reacting and move on we had no cap space and no FA out there was reasonable...
The issue is that not everything can be addressed on draft day when you've got a bunch of holes and are trying to win now.
It's moronic to do this article pre-draft, but it's equally foolish to think that the team has done anything really outstanding this offseason. As for why Chicago's a winner, they just added a guy that put down 200 catches, 2600 yards and 13 TDs in his last two seasons with this QB. That would be a win, yes.
So other than winning 4 playoff games in the last 3 years, we'd be a laughingstock. What does that say about the rest of the NFL that hasn't even come close to that, and what the hell does that have to do with this offseason? Regardless, people hate the Tebow trade, hell, even most of us don't like it that much, so since we haven't really done anything else, the offseason doesn't look great so far. Still, we'll know a lot more about the draft and June cuts.
"Offseason" -Doesn't include draft -Doesn't include FA signing later on in the offseason -Predicts the productivity of players next season for all teams Seriously no one should be calling anyone winners of losers until the mid-way to end of next season. Players that no one expected to perform at a high level might reach that level of performance and some might fall short of expectations. No know who will "win or "lose" until they can prove it on the field.
I agree that the FO has dropped the ball in terms of the OL and should have done more during the last year but my only point was that the initial burst of FA was not the time to try to address those issues as there was very little available for them to work with at a price we could afford. If we come out of the draft/second stage FA without any OL help then I will be glad to jump all over the FO
Exactly, the jets neither lost nor won. We simply maintained. In the end there simply was not much we could do in free agency. Sent from my SGH-T589 using Tapatalk
totally agree with both points. marshall is better than anything the jets have and bringing in tebow is crazy when you have your supposed franchise qb under duress from a bad past season and needing a confidence builder, not second guessing and showing a lack of faith in his ability.
and people think i'm extreme, lol. good point though have to agree about tebow, letting turner leave and the rest. talk to miami fans about what they think of his offense (sporano), if you think the jets offense was predictable last year, you'll be seeing more of the same!
exactly - people act as though we should have signed a new starting right tackle and a top pass rusher by now.
I basically agree with Brad's post, but as you imply it was interesting for not referring to the OC situation. Brad of course was part of the anti Schotty chorus around here. It's interesting that changing him out for Sparano was not cited as a positive. Imo, it probably will not prove to be a positive, but that's not the point. The point is Brad did not list it as a positive. Interesting... Roadkill. So far, that is a good one word description of hte Jet off season, at least so far.
we added depth to our team, and potentially a major upgrade in Landry and lost next to no-one and so how are we losers in FA? roadkill would have been losing at least 1 if not more major starters to another team and doing nothing to replace them. At worst our offseason could be described as "meh"
Agree with pretty much everything. Another way you can look at this is the Jets also haven't lost anyone substantial. The three best players we lost were LT, Westermann, and Marquice Cole. So in a few places we've added by subtracting (esp at o-coordinator).
Excellent point and very true! The Giants fans and the papers were all screaming about how the Giants didn't do anything to help themselves in the previous offseason.
