No it's not. That is definitely not the record. Without even looking any stats up, I know for sure that Brees had over 70% one year.
I'd love for any of you to make any kind of half decent case for Watt being MVP. He will get DPOTY, and rightfully so, but there is just no way anyone can tell me with a straight face that he was more valuable to his team than ANY other player in the league. It just doesn't make sense. Sure it's not fair that defensive players have such a harder path, but that's how it is. Deal with it.
It depends if it's most valuable player or best player. If it's most valuable it's going to be heavily skewed to the QB position. That's the way it works. If it's best, the argument could be made watt was far superior at his job vs his peers than Rodgers was vs his peers. Its called most valuable player but we have seen voters interpret it as best player before. I think Rodgers gets it but he had it locked up in November and now it's not the case so voters might try to go to someone else.
Yeah I agree that Watt is doing stuff that no one else in the league can, cant say the same for Rodgers or Romo because both are playing at a very high level. The gap between them is small either way while Watt's gap is much larger. But its most valuable player, he is not the most valuable player in the league. A playoff berth might have pushed him in like it did for A.P. but they didnt get in...
That's exactly right. If they want the award to be for the best overall player, the NFL should come out and say so. I don't see that ever happening though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating On Watt. It's just not going to happen, and for as dominant as he was, he's not a reasonable MVP candidate. Was he the best player this year overall? Absolutely. Was he the most VALUABLE? Well all that "value" has his team sitting home right now. If they didn't have him, they would have been a bad team, still sitting home. If the Cowboys don't have Romo, they still have Murray to rely on, and vice versa. If the Packers didn't have Rodgers, they no way would have sniffed the playoffs. That's how I interpret it at least.
Yeah but Brady does have as many "Big games" as far as numbers than Rodgers to my knowledge. A-Rod went on a crazy run after the "RELAX" statement. Brady did get hot though in the middle of the season for about 3 games strong.
