Maybe the Jets feigned interest in McFadden, trying to get Oakland to take him since Long was going to be off the board...nobody knows at this point.

Rushing the passer is the key to playing defense in today's NFL. I don't think its a reach.

Berman is a moron. He says stuff and the other guys just look at each other like he's crazy. Who the hell cares if the Jags and Baltimore play each other in the last game of the year. What the hell does that have to do with the Jags trading up for Harvey???

    we don't know that.

it seems obvious, but there's a lot of gamesmanship at the draft.

We didn't shit on the Pats, and the Raiders didnt shit on us. Jets took Gholston because he was the best player at that draft position and he's be very useful for us to help us get to Brady. I do think the Jets wanted Mcfadden but Oakland got him so they went to their #3- Gholston. New England wanted Gholston, he wasn't there, they move on to their second option but they know he'll be there at #10 so they'll gain an extra pick and probably gain that player anyway.

Flacco won't be there in round 2. I think Baltimore is going to take Flacco at 26.

Hopefully Sutton knows what to do with Gholston.

I like the Gholston pick. I'm for ILB or CB in round 2.

Just because another team severely reaches for Harvey, doesn't mean he wouldn't have been a reach for the Jets at 6. Even moreso in my opinion.

    yes....gholston....

my second choice from chris long

just turn this guy loose, keep the blockers off him and we have double digit sacks per year.

folks - we are nearly there with a top 10 defense, after some growing pains, which may take up to a full year.

    2009 should be fun....

How does anybody know that Long and McFadden were 1 and 2 on our draft boards? Have you been in our war room? Do you think Tangini is that stupid and transparent?

Well, he's a Raider so live with it. Not every Jet fan wanted him. In fact, I'd say it was split 50/50 for and against him. I want to see a premier defense and opposing QB's on their backs. Jones and Washington will be fine behind the new OL.

surely not a reach. however i am quite annoyed taht in the next slot ne traded down to 10 then there was another trade.

that annoyed me quite a bit, although ne didnt get a shitload of anything they did pick up a 3rd rounder for 3 draft spots while giving up a 5. it actually made me very happy to see them get so little. but people were obviously looking to move and i would have liked to hear what they were offering for the 6. it also would have been nice to get another third rounder.

im torn, i would have loved to trade but i dont know do we get what we want at 10 and then get something else we need with the third that we dont have right now.

Not everything in the draft is a bluff. The Jets had legit interest in McFadden. They just couldn't take him. I don't think the Jets would fake interest so Oakland would take McFadden, makes little sense to me since pretty much everyone had Mcfadden pegged for Oakland unless Long fell to them.

In terms of production at the next level, is it fair to say Gholston has the most question marks? It's close with McFadden.
