ahh that was bad but i lmao though....

i think people dont know enough about amendola, although he has been injury prone he is a very good wr. if he stays healthy they have a very good receiver who is 4 years younger than welker.

The Patriots did not get better with this move. They got younger, but not better. Even if you look past the fact that this guy can't stay on the field, I don't think he will be able to replicate what Welker was able to do with Brady. He is a good receiver, but I've have seen more talented receivers come into NE like a Joey Galloway or Chad Johnson and flop because they didn't get the system and didn't have the chemistry with Brady. Brandon Lloyd isn't even what NE expected him to be.

Brady isn't getting any younger and I believe he restructured his contract to specifically get Welker back. Not offering Welker 6 million a year for 2 years and then giving the same amount to Amendola just to tack on 3 more years isn't worth it.

Welker could very likely come back and stick it to NE in the playoffs.

The last time a key member of the Patriots joined Peyton Manning, I.E Adam Vinatieri, Manning won a Super Bowl. LOL!

NE will be just fine, they still jhave their 2 best receivers and Amendola will be able to do what Welker has done. Maybe not quite as many recs but he will replicate him enough where they won't be hurt by this move and they could be better.

On AV, I was watching the '06 title game on NFL Network the other day and they had menionted he set a record for FGs made in one postseason that year.

    In NE's 3 SB runs('01, '03, '04) AV made 18 FGs
In Indy's SB run of 2006 he made 14

and people say Brady relied on AV.

Well considering that the tuck rule game ended on 2 AV field goals, the first SB ended on an AV kick, the 2nd SB ended on an AV field goal, and the GW winning score was an AV kick in the third super bowl, Patriots fans should appreciate they had AV and not Kaeding, Brien, Cundiff, or Vanderjagt. Patriots did a good job getting another K in Stephen Gotskowski who is pretty accurate himself. They haven't lost a playoff game because of missed kicks which is great coaching/scouting to find reliable kickers who work under pressure. Credit to Bill I guess.

AV's worst playoff game was when he kicked the GW FG with 9 seconds left against CAR. Pretty nice life when the worst game your kicker has is to win the SB.

Also interesting take on NFL history is switching big kicks from makes to misses or vice versa. Everyone makes fun of the kicker, but man they decide legacies. If we go way back we got to BUF losing a SB due to a kicker. We took advantage in 09 of CIN/SD kicker missing every FG they kicked against us. What would happened if they made some. Would anyone know/care about the tuck rule if AV misses against OAK? What would have happened if Nate Kaeding beat us in 04 OR more interestingly if Doug Brien won us a game in 04. We wouldn't have drafted Mike Nuget in the first round. Would we have used the Nuget pick on Miller and then gotten Frank Gore, Vincent Jackson, Nick Collins with the other pick? Well I'm rambling, but man Doug Brien altered Jets history so much by not kicking the ball through the posts. We would have avoided one of our most embarrassing draft moments, picking a kicker with our first pick (2nd round) of the NFL draft.

Well that depends. Obviously we've had years to see Welker be effective for the Pats.

Amendola is faster and 5 years younger. Will he be as good or better? Who knows, but we'll definitely find out.

He followed Welker at Texas Tech and had similar numbers, including catching 109 passes his senior year even though Crabtree was on the other side.

Assuming Amendola stays healthy(which may be a bad assumption) he worries me more than Welker. NE did a great job w/ this swap.

Do just kickers get into the HOF? Off the top of my head, I don't think they do? Maybe some of the older players who played K and some other position?

It's an iffy assumption. The guaranteed money isn't too high so it wouldn't be disastrous if he got hurt. Good move on paper and financially. WAit and see if it comes to fruition on the field.

I think Stenerud is the only K in the Hall(only primary K, there are others who kicked and did other things) but w/ the million big AV kicks I think he'll end up making it.

    Patriot Warrior-
Very happy about this move. Other than the lack of chemistry with Brady, he is Welker
V2. Given the same type of deal Welker received back in 2007, except that Amendola is more proven at this point in his career than Welker was. Hopefully the freak injuries he has had are over.

I really hope your not joking Amendola is more proven in what look at the stats and beside's the stats Welker is clearly a better player get your facts straight !

huh? He said more proven than Welker when he was traded to the Patriots:
Welker at that point: 3 years 96 catches 1121 yards
    Amendola: 4 years 196 catches 1726 yards.

According to PFT they just cut Brandon LLoyd - they must be serious about making a run for Sanders - which also means they will be trying to trade back in the draft like mad as they will have no picks then in rounds 3, 4, 5, and 6 iirc - god I really hope some idiot team doesn't go making things easy for them in the draft again ("sure we will take your late first round pick, have our 2nd rounder 5 spots later and next year's 2nd rounder as well.....")
