+1 LOL that is the worst and most ignorant argument towards a player anyone could make. .... "How many SBs did player X help win for his team?" Player X could be Barry Sanders, Dan Marino, Adrian Peterson, Randy Moss, Bruce Smith, Derrick Thomas, Tony Gonzalez, Jim Kelly, Chris Carter, Warren Moon, etc. "I'll take Brad Johnson over Dan Marino, because he helped his team win more SBs!" Lol... dick Sent from my Galaxy S4 via Tapatalk
That is a stupid post right there. John Abraham has done absolutely nothing to justify a bid for the HOF. No HOF candidate would ever be a cheap prospect, even at the end of his career. Wake up or stop posting.
While I wouldnt say he is a definative HOFer, Abraham is tied for 13th overall in NFL history with 122 QB Sacks.....not too shabby. NFL Greats such as Marcus Allen, Randy Moss, Tim Brown, Jason Taylor, John Lynch, Junior Seau, Kurt Warner, etc didnt have teams knocking down their doors at the end of their careers and offering big time money either. Good pickup by Arizona IMO. They should have a solid defense (just like every team in that division this year) and if Bruce Arians can generate a half decent offense than maybe they can do a little damage in a tough division. Either way, Abe will be a solid addition.
Not suggesting Abe was ever a tough player ..but never really understood the Abe "quit on us" thing. He certainly was not a durable player & did let us down in big spots..but I don't equate that to "quitting".
As for John Abraham, there's no way you can rule him out for the hall of fame. I'm not saying he's a shoe in, but he has a strong shot.
Agreed. The same people writing that miss attending a Jets home game because of a stomach ache Sunday morning.
kevin greene has been indicted. i think, i may be wrong but i think he got in trouble for something. lawrence taylor has DEFINITELY been indicted.
"Abe?" ...Canton? ...Believe it? Horseshit. You won't find his name on the "sack list" but, there was a guy from Canton who ended up in Canton; guy by the name of Alan Page. John Abraham couldn't carry Alan Page's jock. NFL history? Horseshit. Sack record weren't officially kept until 1982 so Abraham's only 15th over the past 30 years, i.e. Deacon Jones is not on your "NFL History" list along with a slew of others. And if you're going to hang your hat on sack totals, consider this: Kevin Greene is #3 and Leslie O'Neill has more sacks than Abraham and neither one have even gotten top 15 consideration for HOF induction. Horseshit. Strong shot? Horseshit. He's not even the best Atlanta Falcon not to be elected to the HOF. Two words: Tommy Nobis. Abraham was never in the same league as Tommy Nobis.
Its pretty much common knowledge by the average fan that spends significant time on nfl teams message board that the sack stat has only been around for a few decades.... never said it wasn't. Since they made sacks a stat and tracked them, there have only been 12 players with more sacks than Abraham. These are facts, not opinions. It's quite possible by the time Abe retires he could be in the top ten and ahead of guys like Derrick Thomas and Lawrence Taylor. He would only need 10-11 more, which is how many he had last year. Abe has also forced 43 fumbles in his career as well (according to pro-football-reference.com), pretty damn impressive if you ask me. Never said he is a HOFer or that having this many sacks will make him a lock for the hall of fame either..... I wrote this in response to a post saying Abraham "has done absolutely nothing to justify a bid for the HOF" and "No HOF candidate would ever be a cheap prospect, even at the end of his career" which the latter is without question incorrect, and even though I personally don't consider Abe a HOFer, he definitely has had a hell of a career and one could argue he is at least in the discussion. No need to get all emotional....I was just stating some facts/stats and pointing out it isn't unreasonable if someone feels Abe has had a HOF type career..... whether you or I agree with that opinion or not. He sat out during the playoffs Kurt. He quit. He wanted a pay day and didn't want to risk getting injured during our run. No thanks
Here's a fact: "NFL History" as you put it does not apply. No one's getting emotional. You yourself don't consider Abraham a HOFer .... and neither do I, period.
Papz don't take it personal. I thought you were being wack with the HOF talk too at first, but you make fine points, and hey some people here love to be internet bullies haha, so just let it go if it's bothering you. I don't think he should be in the HOF, and sacks aren't everything, but those # are more impressive than I thought...guess it's possible, but personally I really don't see it happening. Also, I have hated Abe since he missed way more games than he should have with his pinky injury for us, ESPECIALLY the playoff run. We were good that year, and not having him was BS and hurt us.
