"They tried to go inside on Eckstein, except that they didn't try to go inside on him." Beltran guns Eckstein out at the plate!
And 0-2 pitch out of the strike zone...christ Joe, what the fuck do you think he was trying to do. "He's wasn't trying to hit him." Well no shit, asshole.
another morgan gem from last inning when he was commenting on glavine's record when he has a 5 run lead. "statistics can say alot of things"
See, Joe, here's where statistics can help you. You're amazed that the record for opening day HRs is only 8. You can only hit one opening day HR a year (obviously). If a player plays 16 years (far more than most do), he would have to average one HR every two games to hit 8, a 75-80 HR per year pace. In fact, it would be mind boggling if the record was more than 8. But this doesn't count, since it doesn't support your point.
the discussion of that trivia question was surreal. "well do we count that one?" then coming to the conclusion that because they paid him more as a player meant it counted. you would think the fact that he was you know, in the lineup would establish the fact that he was a player.
that would've been a pretty boring half inning if miller didn't have me on the edge of my seat with his hoyt wilhelm joke.
