Agree with everything you said except the last sentence. The Dodgers play in LA, fuck them. That's the problem, the organization glorifies the Dodgers past more than we do the Mets. Why not talk about the NY baseball Giants while we're at it? This is the Mets, that came out of the ruin of those two franchises. 69' and 86' left enough legacy for this franchise, let's quit living in the past.
Mets officially signed a 5-year radio deal with WOR. It's actually for more money than they were getting from WFAN. Howie Rose probably stays, but no word about anyone else. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/mets-reach-radio-deal-wor-article-1.1506002
No but the Mets have shown interest, nothing says championship like 2 guys who can't stay healthy and are both over 30.
The Mets can't even afford Latroy Hawkins , who just signed with Colorado . We are SCREWED this season !!!!!!
The Mets and Cano's parties met today. I would love to have him aboard, but not at 10 years 300 something million. That's blasphemy.
Hard to believe that's a serious number - no one is going to offer it. On the other hand 7 years for $200 million is possible, and that's why the Mets have no shot.
He's like 45 and getting paid 2.5 million which is way too much for someone of his age who isn't a closer. Although he was great for the Mets this past season, I, and I believe the Mets view this as addition by subtraction. Let Vic Black and Gonzalez German take over his role.
That's where I'm thinking it well end up around 7 for 200, but yes, the Mets are out of the running for sure.
Is this team fucking serious? Chris Young , 1 year deal for 7 million? The guy hit .200 with 10 homeruns last year on a good team. Jeez if I ever could have hit a baseball..... unreal. BTW that is 700,000 for every HR he hit last year. My guess is he won't even break 10 at Citi
don't pop a vessel Barry. this is why I barely pay attention to baseball anymore. caring about what the Mets do is too detrimental to my sanity.
Let the rest of the off season play out before you blast this move. He's coming off a terrible year sure but the guy isn't a completely useless hitter like the rest of the outfielders currently on the Mets roster. 7 million is a bit steep for a guy that will have a sub .300 OBP vs righties but at least he has some power. It's only a 1 year deal and it's only money so this deal is only bad if it prevents them from adding other players.
Black and german ; Sounds like a triple A staff to me ; can't do that in the big apple (at those prices) .
Can't complain about this deal at all. Given the contracts being signed around baseball (starting with Cano's moronic contract from Seattle) this is a fair price, and four years was the right length. Hopefully he can avoid being hit by pitches and breaking bones in the future.
