Well I was hoping this team could play spoiler and it seems as if it's possible the Mets could help the Nationals by beating the Reds next week. It's unlikely but it's the about the only thing we have to look forward to...oh and maybe Collins being fired and Backman hired.
Harvey is going to try and rehab the injury for two months. If there are any problems, he'll shut it down and have surgery. Either way, it's irrelevant, because they say he's done for 2014 regardless. If he's going to miss next season, I'd say just do the surgery...
That's not at all what I've seen - if he only rehabs he avoids surgery (which is always preferable), but also would play in 2014, perhaps as early as the start of the season. http://mlb.si.com/2013/09/17/matt-harvey-mets-tommy-john-surgery-rehab/ http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/sto...vey-new-york-mets-try-rehab-resorting-surgery
I think mets fans need to accept that the mets want nothing to do with Backman and will keep Collins because he is their yes man. Management is worse than the team on the field.
Sorry, but I'm not rooting for the Mets to help Washington in any way. I find them a very unpleasant team, especially the blowhard Harper.
This was from a broadcast last night where they were discussing him and said that he's going to miss the season anyway, so the Mets don't mind if he tries to rehab first. So that's what I meant by "they say". They could've been wrong, they didn't say where they got their information from. It must've been the Phillies announcers because that's what I was watching.
I still think you misinterpreted what they were saying. What everyone agrees is that if has Tommy John surgery now, or in a couple of months, it won't make a difference, because he would miss the entire 2014 season anyway. That is, there is no reason to rush to a decision, since if they go with surgery he won't be back until 2015 (but would be expected to be back for the beginning of 2015) whether he has surgery now or in two months.
No, they definitely said that it doesn't matter to the organization if he tries to rehab, because he would be missing next season regardless (whether he rehabbed without surgery or whether he had the surgery). If that's wrong, it's on the CSN guys. Obviously if he has surgery he misses next season.
Somebody at CSN got it wrong then. The whole point of rehabbing the injury is to avoid surgery and avoid missing next season.
A fittingly bad end for Ruben Tejada to his worst season as a major leaguer - he broke his right leg on a collision in the field with Andrew Brown.
All I care about is that he not get hurt. Otherwise, while it might be important to him personally to play, I think it has exactly zero effect on the franchise.
Whoops, my mistake on that one. He's expected to be in the lineup tomorrow. http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/20...om&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=br_nymets
I like Harper being I've had some interaction with him while he was still in high school so I found him to be quite different than his persona. He's a really nice kid off the field however I think he's also gotta learn to control his emotions as well. I like you though won't be rooting for the Nats. I'd prefer the Reds get in, one of my good friends is a Reds fan and my brother played competitively against Todd Frazier from Little League all the way through high school.
In Wright's first AB back, he hit one out to right off Hamels. 2 run homer. He came back without having seen any live pitching.
Collins doing a good job of saving his job, as Mets are 8-3 in their last 11 games. Remarkably enough, they finish 41-40 on the road for the season.
