In other news Dice K is a freaking disgrace....he shoud go back to Japan and ride out his career with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters or the Hiroshima Toyo Carp
after the last few seasons, I never thought I'd see him in MLB again. Guy is terrible and proved it again and again. I'm not sure why the Mets wanted him unless it was to make the news. What happened to September callups? No marginal arm the Mets could use for a few starts?
I went to see them Friday night and some kid named Rafael Montero pitched, he struck out the 1st 6 batters he faced. He pitched 150 innings between AA and AAA and had an ERA under 3.00 which when you consider 9 of those starts came in the PCL that's eye popping. He also added 150K's. He's only 22 so he could be a guy to keep an eye on. In only 2 years he's gone from the Dominican League to AAA. He left in the 6th with a 1-0 lead only to have Justin Hampson blow it in the 9th giving up 3 runs.
Montero will be up in 2014 as back of rotation guy...not sure if he will last as a full time starter ..his stuff is questioned by many as projecting more as a reliever but he simply gets it done Cannot wait to see Syndegaard..will go all man crush and say he actually could be better than what we already have..guy is a unit...pounds the zone and already has his offspeed pitches...minus one blip which came off extended rest his era/strikeout/walk numbers are better than Harvey and Wheeler Also watch out for these guys Lawley / Puello ( Power was there after the PEDS) and Plawecki who potentially makes Darnaud a trade chip in 2015. Oh and can Dice-K fuck off!
Gotta hope for a terrible finish so Collins doesn't get brought back and they consider Wally Backman. The Mets don't want anything to do with Backman but will have to consider him if they get rid of Collins.
Well the AAA team was dispatched in 4 games, (best of 5) the 1st two games in SLC they took a one run lead into the 8th only to lose both games. I believe the same guy took the loss both nights. They rolled on Friday but KO'd Saturday at home.
Yeah pretty much..... both games were there for the taking. It's a shame because I think they would have beaten Omaha or OKC.
where are they going? regarding radio, I never understood why teams didn't put together their own sports channel like they do with TV (MSG, SNY, YES, etc...). They just need to hire a couple of schmucks to take listeners' calls in between games and they'll make a lot more money
Actually that's incorrect, just found it that it's WFAN kicking them out and going with the Yankees instead. Apparently they were losing money on the Mets even though it's half the cost of the Yankees rights
too bad the Mets missed out on Volquez, they're picking up all the other horrible pitchers Harang starts Thursday well either way they're leaving. Just might've implied it was their choice when it wasn't
Lol..... he pitched for Vegas in the AAA playoffs. I can't remember what horrible team realesed him. Was it the Mariners maybe?
yeah he was getting lit up in Seattle. If your home park is Safeco and your ERA is over 5, you are a truly dreadful pitcher (same could be said for Volquez and Petco). His last start was August 25, at home against the Angels. 5 2/3, 9 H, 7 ER. The Mariners finally said 'enough' and DFAd him in order to bring up one of their prospects (Taijuan Walker). But he found a home in Queens. The Mets are glad to bring in washed up 30-something year old pitchers. Harang has a career WHIP of 1.352 over 12 seasons :breakdance:
