That's why I'd LOVE it....... The biggest game in the elements that true fans sit through and watch.

Unfortunately that's why it won't, and corpo golf clappers who couldn't identify a false start will rule. (reminds me of the Miller High Life commercial)

"The committee approved the New Meadowlands Stadium's application to bid despite the traditional requirement that Super Bowl host regions have a minimum temperature of 50 degrees or a climate-controlled indoor stadium with the understanding that the bid would be a unique, once-only circumstance based on the opportunity to celebrate the new stadium and the great heritage and history of the NFL in the New York region."

WOW! Imagine that! This is some stadium, let me tell you. What a venue!

One and done and everybody freezes their ass off for one stinking Superbowl, then the committee can say they paid homage to the mausoleum Mara and Woody built and call it a day forever. Man, this facility is just unbelievable!

Seriously, if the Jets are in the SB, I will be there and I wouldn't care what the temps are. That would be SO cool I don't know if my heart would hold up.

I will be so happy to watch Joe Bruno spend the rest of his days in a cell.

    Ahhh.... Haaahaaahahahahahahaaa.... you got it.

Thinking about what could have been...

Yeah, I was opposed to the WSS. Nowadays I'm rethinking that position... steeper seating with much better views (because of limited real estate), covering dome... oh man... the possibilities. Knowing what the PSLs are today in that "joint" oversized POS, I probably would have jumped at the chance to buy a PSL in the WSS, seriously.

And before anyone says, "Yeah, but your PSL would have been even higher," I doubt it. The Jacob Javitts Center hookup and many, many other big-name venues would have offset costs immensely. NYC would draw pwople like, every day. There isn't a venue that they couldn't sell out, so yeah, fuck Joe Bruno... glad he got caught. And I'm not even a New Yorker!

Why the hell wouldn't the teams agree to putting a retractable roof on the building in the first place. The added expense would be wiped out and then some with one, let alone multiple Super Bowls. Instead we have a "state-of-the-art" stadium with the one thing that almost all new stadiums are being built with. Stupidity.

i'm sooo glad we're not playing in a fricken dome. it just ain't football when played inside. it's arena football with over-payed punters.

I think it was already a done deal for the WSS if they could have built it.

I wouldn't rule it out, first time for everything, you never know. If global warming is real it'll be warm in February by 2014.

Why all the fuss? After 2012 we'll all be dead anyway.

New York City attracts more visitors per year than the next top 3 combined. People will embrace the city getting the bowl. It will be Old School. Some of the greatest and most memorable games in NFL History were played in the cold.

Should have just ended this thread after your post.

As i was on the stadium tour with my dad i asked the guide why they didn't go with the dome and was told that, "after doing the math it was determined the $400 million more it would have cost to put a roof on would never have been recouped and was deemed cost prohibitive".

That and it takes away a northeastern home field advantage.

I'm also glad they didn't put a dome on the stadium. I've watched games in domes (Metrodome and Phoenix Stadium) and it just isn't the same as watching football outside in the cold where it's supposed to be played.

Because its the F'N Super Bowl! For many, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. I would go in a heartbeat if given the chance.
