Not impressed with any uniform change. The Jets need talent and playmakers. I have yet to see or hear of a uniform change making a team a winner. Steelers had their unis for 60 years just tweaks no gimmicks. 49ers, and Raiders basic stuff cause they were coached properly. Cowboy's slight color changes and even wearing their home unis on the road still as popular as ever cause the fans love it.
Homerun in every way. Guys, it's ok to like something, it's not a sign of weakness. I assure you we did not compromise anything football-wise by releasing new jerseys.
They look MUCH better than the current uni did, so that’s a plus. I do like the cleaner look, the big numbers, and I like that they kept the current shade of green, especially the helmet. That helmet looks great with the white facemask. So all in all, much much better than the uni’s we just got rid of…glad I never bought one of those jerseys! That being said, I still prefer the Namath/Parcells era uni’s and logo, even though I really grew up watching the sack exchange era teams. I just hate that logo…it’s so blackish amatuerish kindergarten-ish…just read an article in the Post about the equipment guy who created it. Nice story for him started as an office boy (his words) and they made him the video guy and he had a few classes in school in graphic design (which he says he failed), and voila…he created a logo for them when they wanted to change. Nice story…root for the guy. However, the logo is still boring as fuck and just some slanted block letters with a plane that a kindergarten kid would draw. Sure it’s clean and simple but man I just don’t love it. Still…the whole change to the old jerseys and keeping the new green…I can live with it. Looks much better than the current so that’s good at least.
The all-green and the black uniforms look like dogshit. The slightly-darker 1980s green jerseys/white pants and all-white uniforms look great. I prefer the lighter green (1980s green), but I'll take what I can get.
I know everyone has their own opinion and they are all equally valid, but this is a return (or at least very close) to the unis the Jets wore when I first started following them in 1983. I know it’s irrelevant to how they play, I know it is way down on the list of things the Jets needed to sort out, but I couldn’t be happier.
Marketing department wants black and that's all that matters. Black = more jersey sales. We now have a mix of the more traditional and the modern to choose from. Reach all the demographics.
So they will be mixing and matching the colors again so get ready for 6 games of green helmet white jersey black pants.
They have to, so Woody has something really important to do each week when he announces the weekly outfits.
I'm wondering on those green helmet-white jersey-black pants days if Woody can be seen at the stadium wearing a green Jets cap, white shirt and black slacks. I bet he likes to match.
I'm totally with you on the stripes. But if I'm buying one it's probably gonna be one of the black ones, and partially for that reason as as I don't mind them as much on the black
