OK, so I cut Varitek for the Rockies catcher and Kearns for Felix Pie - with this being a keeper league, I just don't see the veterans giving me enough extra at the moment to outweigh the chance to grab a couple of decent prospects early - Pie for example won't make the Opening Day roster in Chicago, but could well be there by September and into next year...

I don't mean to help you, but you're only keeping 5 of the guys. I have a veteran-lined team, but I have: Utley, Sizemore, Willis, and Lincecum who are virtually guaranteed to be 4 out of my 5 keepers. From there I'll just take the best veteran for the '08 season, and there you go. It's not like a franchise where the entire team needs to be young, just 3 or 4 guys.

Yeah, I know, but Varitek is on the downside of his career in any event. Adding a couple of younger guys just gives me more options.

Well, I must say I'm happy to learn my relief pitching got a huge boost with Papelbon being moved to closer

The team has too many young guys that are on the brink of breaking out but haven't yet. It's good for a few years for now, but for this year there's not enough solid veterans to carry the team.

DITK, this isn't Real life where veteran leadership is important. You want a team with young hungry stars ready to bust out.

I had a team one year with Blalock, Soriano, Nomar and Teixeira in the infield. They all had bust out years. Gimme the young guys with upside over the vets with "average production" any day of the year.

Not to mention I love when my sleepers all produce. Just ask Mantana Soss.

Well then I guess it's strategy A vs. strategy B, and we'll see how it all works out.

Through day 1 I'm satisfied... all of my pitchers except Lowe pitched very well (especially Ben Sheets), and my hitters had a so-so day. The fact that I'm winning BA as of 9:48 by .220 to .200 just shows how pathetic these hitters really are in April... only 3 of the 12 of us has an average over .270...

With the Recent promotion of Dan WHeeler as the new closer for the Astros, im going to put him on the trading block along with Frank Thomas, Rich Aurillia, and Freddy Sanchez. Im not looking for a specific position and Ill consider any offers.

It's fun watching a Mets fan slobber all over himself to try and get Jose Reyes off me....

    Sorry Dblitzer...he's not going anywhere...

I suck balls in 10th place! If Konerko, Atkins, and Dye decided they want to play baseball this season, I'd be pretty good...

Derek Jeter is on the trading block... looking for a base stealing SS or a starting pitcher in return.

I was finally freed of the Atkins demon today. Phew, and at this point I don't even care if he wakes up and plays like he should have been from the beginning, because him rotting away on my bench has cost me a valuable spot all year. I advise you people to not pick him up... he sucks. Really bad.
