With the way the org chart is set up, Bowles would have made that hire. Mac has no say so in the CS or who starts for the team.
The quickest way to the bottom is to take coaches from the only team that is possibly worse than we are.
You guys are missing the point. The idea is to tank without tanking for the #1 overall pick in 2018. Hire coaches that suck, then they all get fired at the end of 2017. Hire a established coach with the tantalizing bait of the #1 pick overall and plenty cap room.
We could have done that without firing half the staff and just keeping the status quo. It really was pretty fucking stupid to allow to Bowles to clean house. I wanted him fired as it is apparent that he is clueless, but I understand the mentality of keeping him one more year just not allowing him to try to get anybody come here for a lame duck season.
I think that was the price of Bowles keeping his job. Woody can't stand the sight of empty sections in MetLife. He figured someone had to walk the plank and put it on Bowles to make it happen. If Bowles stands pat, then Metlife would certainly have been a ghost town in 2017 except maybe for the road teams.
What are you even talking about? It's very clear that the hot dog vendor in section 229 is in charge of hiring the defensive line coach.
Not sure how firing the staff and replacing them with Pop Warner coaches will put butts in the seats.
I don't think so either, but Bowles' built in excuse is the very reason why he's a lame duck. He can't get good coaches to work for him because he's perceived as a short timer. He's a short timer because he won't win with a substandard staff. Anyone taking this job is doing a money grab. One and done. Nothing more or less.
