You know, Joe gets a bad rap. He hung in there for a while and answered a few questions reasonably well, the talky bitch would shut up. Even if she dug him he'd have probably passed out on her.

My hate for the Pats* (Belly, Brady, Cassel, Vrabel, etc.) and Peter King knows no bounds but I think Shanahan is a douchebag - case in point: he started that idiotic trend of calling timeouts right before a field goal.

Well, did it make you happy then when Terrell Davis's career pretty much came to an end when he went down with the ACL injury when we beat them at Mile High early in the year in 1999?

That may have been the only game Mirer ever won, I can't remember. I know our record was pretty awful by the time we got to the Ray Lucas magic (who actually played pretty well that year),

Injuries like that never make me happy, not him, not Marino, not Brady. If a guy gets dinged and misses the rest of a game against us, that's ok.

I'm pretty sure we also beat Arizona at home that year with Mirer at QB with a late TD to Keyshawn, I was there.

Nah, I never root for or am happy about injuries. I mean they are a part of the game but I always am bummed to hear when a really good player gets hurt. I just think it hurts the richness of the competition. (I was even a little dissapointed when Brady went down at the beginning of this season . . .)

Yeah, we were 0-3 and so were the Broncos. I was really pumped for that win. Mirer certainly did not win any more games. Lucas didn't play until the Jets were already 1-5 or 1-6 in the first home game against the Colts. (It's crazy how they used to be in our division)

Oh shit, I forgot about that game. Yeah. We also should have won the Bills game (second game of the season - in orchard park) with him but we couldn't score with 1st and goal on the 1 yard line. (we got stopped on downs and the game totally changed)

Lucas got hurt in that Colts game and Mirer had to play two more games, including the win vs Arizona. The whole Mirer "era" was a joke, Lucas had been there and knew the offense, he should have gone in right away. Mirer was picked up at the end of camp.

Yep. Sadly, he got hurt on the last play of the game - a hail mary attempt with the Colts up by a TD. That was another game we should have won that year.

What sucks is we came roaring back to 8-8 and missed the playoffs by a game. Any one of those games you mentioned would have done it, and we were on a huge roll going in had we gotten there.

I was at that game in Denver. My brother's wife's family live in Denver and got us tickets to the game. All day Friday and Saturday, the neighbors came up to the house because they heard a Jet fan was in the area and were giving my shit.

I believe we were 0-5 at the time (so were they) but I can't recall a game I wanted them to win more.

My brother spent Sunday morning making a hellaciously good batch of hot wings and we tailgated with his wife and sister-in-law. It was a cold but sunny day.

I remember watch Davis go down, and the controversey afterward with people in the stands throwing batteries at the players, and the glory of victory, even a season too late.

But mostly, I remember waking up before dawn, picking up the morning papers from the obnoxious neighbors lawns, and cutting out the sports page of the Denver Post, and taping it to each of their doors before I had to head out to the airport for my morning flight home.

I know!!! I always tell people that Jet team was just as dangerous as the 98 team at the end of the season. If we had ever qualified for the playoffs, we would have been such a tough out for the rest of the AFC. And then parcells left us . . .

We were 0-3 at the time (and so were they) but excellent post. Got me pumped.

Over the summer, for some reason, the NFL Network was replaying the first round playoff game between Miami and Seattle, I guess it was Marino's last game or something. I couldn't help but remember that the Jets last two games that year we destroyed both of those teams.

I hate the Broncos because they were over the salary cap in 98 and the league did nothing about it. Cheaters.

Miami ended up getting the last playoff seed in 1999 and beat a horrible 9-7 division winner in Seattle that lost to us the last game of the season.

We're playing in Jacksonville if we make the playoffs that year...and we sure as hell weren't losing 62-7.

hahaha. Yeah. That Monday night win over Miami (second to last game of the season) was one of the most exciting games I've ever seen. And then we just pounded Seattle.
