Wow I feel sick to my stomach. Chris sat a few rows behind me last season in 346. He always made sure he came over to say hello every game and introduced me to his son a few times. I feel sick to my stomach he was a very nice guy, diehard Jets fan, and loved his son dearly. He was a young kid too and shouldn't lose a father at such a young age.
^^^This. Sincere condolences to his wife, his sons, family and friends. Not to single out anyone, but to the well-meaning and concerned posters asking "what happened?" please be reminded of the OP's request to leave out the details of Pat-Hater's demise out of respect to his family. Respectfully, let's keep that in mind. thx. God's speed kid.
I woke up this morning hoping to see this was a sick joke and sadly it appears that this is reality and the path God has chosen for our friend Pats-Hater. Now that reality has set in I am crushed. I never met Pats Hater personally but he was supposed to come out to Vegas about a year or two ago and we were gonna rip it up. For some reason related to his work it never happened and he never visited. I know he was traveling to the West Coast a lot for work and as a father myself who has never really had to travel for work I couldn't imagine how much that would suck when all you wanna do is spend time with those children and your stuck thousands of miles away. I kicked around the idea of going to the Vikes game last year because having been to one of 17a's tailgates knew it would be worth the cost of a plane ticket. I'm disappointed I couldn't make it happen and now saddened by the fact that one of our friends who was there is no longer there. Having seen pictures of the tailgate and PH drinking out of a glass, not a bottle or can but a pint glass I don't think I'll ever look at beer drinking at a tailgate quite the same. PH is gone but his memory is not, I instantly recognized PH with his Jerry Garcia av which was since changed but I knew when I saw that av there was a post with something quite funny waiting for me. I will say a special prayer in church today for this man I never got to meet but made me laugh and smile on a regular basis. My thoughts will always be with his children who did not deserve this tragedy and a wife who will now have to raise 3 small children without the help of the man who on what all accounts was a great father. Thank you Pats-Hater for always bringing a smile to my face even when things on this board were bleak or the Jets stunk up the joint. Even after an awful game you had a way of making me laugh and adding your special touch to a thread. May you now rest in peace.
I'm glad to hear that the info about the arrangements for his funeral and wake will be posted here. It will mean the world to his family if people show up and let them know that he affected people in such a positive way.
My friend Chris “did u sell these?” – pats-hater 09-24-2007, 01:22 PM That’s the line that allowed Chris & I to meet and become friends & gave me the opportunity to meet his beautiful Family. “2 Season tix With or Without Pre-season! “ -8/6/2007 He was looking for 2 seats but Chris wasn’t about to get scammed, oh no. He wanted all my phone numbers and address. I said oh yeah? And invited him over to my house where he fell in love …….. with my refrigerator! Yep, every opportunity he got he always talked about my fridge… But that’s kewl, because that’s when I got to meet his Wife w/bun in the oven and Son. Chris was so easy to get along with because he was a genuine person, no Bullshit, straight from the heart tell it like it is all while enjoying life! The smile and happiness he showed whenever he was around was infectious. But let’s not start calling the man a flower, start some shit and he will knock you in your dome…. Believe me, I have it on camera…sssshhhhh lol. Well, Chris took the tix and the rest is tailgate history. @ The tailgates one thing He enjoyed was some meatless veggie wraps that we’d make for him. When we brought it he would say to put it out for anyone else who wanted veggie wraps, cause that’s just how he was. Oh, I’d buss on him for it. “It’s a tailgate dude, you have to eat meat!” Chris would always buss on people hating the green font. He’d get a kick every time someone bitched about it and tell me, bro fuk them don’t change that shit. Lmao, oh yea. Thanksgiving 2010 Our Thanksgiving tailgate will be a night me and the wifey will always remember. It turned out to be Chris & his boy, Me & the wifey, and we ended up having a hell of a time. Tent, Table, TV for all the games and tons of Thanksgiving food. Strangers were coming to hang out @ the tailgate and we ended up with lots of people watching the game. There was also this group of Aussies who hung out with us, even JetsBabe showed up for a little while, it was such a memorable night. Now, while we had turkey legs, sweet potatoes, and lots of other stuff but don’t forget, Chris didn’t eat meat so I made 2 large tupperwares of Vegetable fried rice. The dude not only ate it but took a whole full Tupperware with him. He said, this is for the week! So of course the next tailgate he brings back 2 brand new Tupperware containers because he knows how the wifey’s are with their Tupperware! Lmbo…that’s Chris. It was bothersome getting texts in the a.m. and the sense of “something isn’t right” from Kevin on the phone. Then I got the news while driving and wanted it to be called hornet but it wasn’t. I haven’t been able to really post what Chris meant to us, and the TGG family for the past day. Man that really eats at you. I wanted to share some moments w/you guys and hope this would really open up how we really are an extended family. Some choose to stay behind the keyboards which is fine, but actually meeting the people behind the posts and getting the opportunity to meet someone like Chris is priceless. Chris, while you are no longer here and our time to enjoy your presence has been cut short you will always, ALWAYS be in our thoughts and hearts. Rest in Peace hermano. And because I know he would: “Cool Story Bro” – pats-hater
I only just saw this thread.... Wow... This truly sucks. As a father myself, I can't even imagine how horrible this is for his kids. Condolences to his family and friends. I got a PM about this yesterday. The person who sent it proposed to create a memorial thread for TGG posters who are no longer in this world. I am all for it, we can even create a memorial subforum... R.I.P. Pats-Hater...
Wow this is terrible, terrible news. One of the nicest guys on this board I wish I could have met him in person. RIP PH.
36 years old. Jesus Christ. Most of you know that I love blowing off TGG tailgates. I will be there on 11/13 for sure. Never met Chris personally but by far one of my favorite posters. All your stories seem to confirm what I figured about the guy. Count me in for the donation fund as well. Terrible terrible news. Been thinking baout it for tweo days now. RIP Jets brother.
Great great post RT. No fucking cowbells this year, Chris hated them too (WINK WINK). I guess my one pertinent Chris story, was something he did for my wife Karen. I think it was right after the Vikes game last year after I had just met him in person. Here is some background Karen is disabled and as some of you know she has major health issues. Her life is the computer where she can design stuff (she is uber talented). Anyway, I just bought her a new gaming computer as she was always complaining how slow her old computer was. I also got her a new high end Cisco router that was supposed to be a "plug and play"device but really wasn't. She couldn't get on the internet no matter how hard she tried. Anyway, Chris heard her cursing in the background (I had him on speaker) and asked what was wrong. I explained and asked if he can speak with her as he was a computer expert. He did so and fixed her problem rather easy. Karen, was in the room when I got the call from Ollie, yesterday (again it was on speaker) about the text that 17a sent out prior to this thread. She started crying. She said, " He was so nice and patient, asked what the problem was and gave me a few suggestions and they worked. He was so nice." I don't think either of us slept well yesterday. Anyway, this news is really heart breaking.
Royal Tee...the one time I hung out with him (and JetsBabe) he kept mentioning how cool of a guy you are and how it sucked you weren't there (the last game vs. Buffalo this past January). He was basically like, "every person I've met through the board is gold," so hopefully I get to meet you, too, and the rest of you mutts, too. Great post, RT, I still can't bring myself to believe this is true.
terrible to hear this. i never knew the guy, but he was one of the funniest damn guys on this site. RIP
He wanted to meet me at a game this season. He was one of my favorite posters and it was clear that he liked me a lot too.
