If Chad somehow lead the Dolphins into the playoffs while knocking us out..... I don't know what I would do. It would be the worst of the worst of decades of bad losses.
It's certainly a possibility. If Miami can get past the Bills this week in all likelihood they'll be rolling into Giants Stadium on the last week with 10 wins. The thing that worried me the most about the Dolphins is that most of their games have been close, and in that case it wouldn't even take Chad beating the Jets, just one of Favre's brain dead throws to finish the Jets.
I'm not reading the entirety of this thread. It's the same posts we've always seen after a loss. All I'll say is, the Broncos have been up and down all season. This is a team that's currently 3-0 against the NFC South, which many people consider the best or second-best division in football. The fact is, our whole team came out flat, with the possible exception of TJ. It happened, and yes, it could happen again. Until they choke away the division (which we still lead), I'm not calling it SOJ. Now, had I posted this yesterday, rather than staying away a day to cool down, I might have responded differently.
My girlfriend was telling me this very same thing yesterday. She's just like you guys--Darksider panicking after 1 loss and already seeing the poetic justice of a Week 17 loss to Chad lol. With that said I think it's more likely the Jets have the division in the bag before then and hopefuly lay down for a quarter or 2 so we can sneak in with the WC.
Miami is capable of losing every game left on their schedule, the likelihood that they win all 3 leading up to the Jets game is not very good. I'm much more concerned about the Pats then I am the Dolphins.
well perhaps an adjustment of our fanbase mentality could help to ward off the same old jets. Geez guys do what they say to do judge the season by groups of 4 games 3rd qtr we just played stlouis- tennesee, NE and Denver and went 3-1 is that same old jets- if we go 2-2 down the stretch and lose first rd sing same old jets all you want for the moment, lets move on and show support and go to San Fran get the job done- we would then be a dallas win over pittsburgh from basically being in the same spot as we were before this weekend. Negativity goes through to our fan base and we need to change tooo Fuck enough it Enough
This is exactly what the fans in Tenn said after we whipped their ass. Just goes to show that on any given Sunday any team can win, at this point I am not even comfortable talking about us making the playoffs. 2 division games plus 2 trips out west = we could win 0,1,2,3, or 4 of those games. Finishing 8-8 would not shock me nor would 12-4. This team specifically is very erratic, see wins at NE and Tenn and losses to Oak, hung on barely against KC and blown out by SD. Not to mention this Denver team was playing badly coming into last week. Morale of the story is even if we do make the playoffs any of the 6 the teams in the AFC playoffs could go to the dance.
If this team and it's coaching CS staff pulls its head out of its collective ass and plays the last 4 games like they really want to win something, then I can finally put the SOJ's to rest. However, if this team and it's CS chokes this season away with bullshit game planning, maladjustments and lackluster play, then there's no way in hell anyone can tell me the SOJ's have left the building.
Before yesterday, a first round bye was very much a possibility. Putting aside the unpleasantness of even considering hoping that NE knocked off Pitt, the point was the Jets looked good for a bye if they just played out there own destiny. Instead they came out flat, couldn't tackle, made many questionable play calls, and of course turned the ball over. Of course it is true they are still in the playoff hunt. But they've gone from a team with momentum to one with the numbers still on their side, but nothing compelling about them. They were exposed yesterday as a team that could not beat a good team at home. Where does that leave the Jets for the playoffs? Well, they haven't gotten there yet, have they? Like Cman says, they'll tell us who they are in the remaining four games. It's not whether some here say SOJ, and others say that isn't fair or right. It's that the momentum they had before yesterday is gone, replaced by a question mark. They will answer it, and we will have our answer, no matter what anyone here thinks.
Oh, bullshit. God, Jets fans make me sick. Either you whine and cry like RobA or you take a perverse pleasure in intoning "Same Old Jets," like poster #1 here. Even good teams lose to teams they shouldn't. I don't know why I go to the trouble for you whingers, but I checked on Pro Football Reference and guess what? The 1968 Jets of sainted memory, the team against which all subsequent Jets teams are measured and found wanting, lost at home to the Denver Broncos -- who finished 5-9 that year. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/196810130nyj.htm Of course, Jets fans in those days were probably less of a drag on their team than the current lot.
DBJ that was well written you are indeed an elloquent darksider. That said, it was one game. Let's play out the string. I have been a fan for a very long time, I am trying not to think negatively about this team and this loss. Let's get the next one.
There it is again. So, I guess you must lie awake at night worrying that "no one" respects Jet fans. I don't. In fact, even if that were true, which I doubt, I couldn't care less. This whole respect thing is something I will never understand. It sounds like it comes out of some insecurity, but I don't really care about that, either.
yup, the mentality blows, and thats why the Jets get shit all over. On the field, and in the stands. I simply offer a different way of acting and supporting this team. I guess its asking too much because it takes a headstrong person to not see this as the sky is falling. I have friends of mine who aren't Jets fans that are shocked of how I'm acting because most Jets fans are feeling sorry for themselves and kicking the ground. I'm pissed and ready to watch my team rape the 49ers, while others are frightened about the west coast trip. I'm sorry for not acting like a sad, scared fan. I'm not that kind of person. So maybe I don't fit the normal Jets fan stereotype The respect I talk about is the fact that I don't want to get lumped in with a laughing stock mentality. But I guess I have no choice..... so much for taking a different approach to my favorite sports team. Sorry for being different. And I really thought the culture was slowly shifting during this season. One bump in the road and all the progress means nothing.
