jets decided to rebuild a decimated o-line instead, plus they got clemens, I'd still do it the same way. I agree cutler will be very good, but hopefully we'll be set at o-line for years to come and the game is won in the trenches.

Come on, man, pass that blunt.

If you think this ostensibly efficient FO is going QB in round 1 a year after trading up in round 2 for one, I gotta have some of that green.

How anyone can come on this board and predict which of the QBs drafted this year will have the best career based on PRESEASON is just full of it. We'll know in 3-4 years who made the best pick. There are dozens of examples of young QBs looking great in preseason and stinking it up later. There are also dozens of examples of QBs looking bad early in their careers and then coming on (Bradshaw, Aikman, Elway, Plunkett to name a few) and others who looked very good early and then faded (Brian Griese, Mirer, George).

Actually, all that we know is that Leinart appears to be a self-centered jerk who I wouldn't want on my team. Almost everything he has done so far sounds Ryan Leaf like to me. Holding out, getting women pregnant, etc. As for Cutler or Clemens or Young - who the heck knows???

In every NFL draft there is a later round QB success story for every first round bust. Let's wait and see before we start with the "I told you sos"

    Rain man is back.

Cutler or Clemens or OL? Rain man says Pennington has a noodle arm and that he need toothpicks to eat his french toast.

Agreed. This and the Rain Man stuff.

I am amazed at how the board as a whole has declared Clemens a bust already.

There's been an awful lot of Quinn talk of late.

I still say the Jets didn't have to make a splash of a pick this past draft. They needed to get the necessary players to fix the offensive line and what other holes needed to be filled. If they picked Linert or Cutler, those two would have been apart of the new field turf. consistantly on the ground.

I am very happy with who they got and we will be better down the road.

Yes, of course, and as soon as the team takes a nosedive there will be dozens of people starting "What are our chances of getting the #1 pick?" and "When is it okay to start rooting for the Jets to lose?" threads. Those are the Madden people, the ones who don't seem to care that there's a season in between drafts. But that's not the majority of the board.

Heh, good line- there's a season between drafts.

I think Clemens will be fine, and just needs some seasoning and experience.
Even if the NYJ have a #1-#3 pick next year, i think they'd take the top rb.

The only concern I have now, is if these 2 1st rnd picks (Brick & Mangold) are lighting it up in 3 or 4 yrs, the FO don't go cheap and let them go as free agents, because they are asking for too much.

I don't see why we gave to commit ourselves to Clemens; he's just a 2nd round pick. If he pans, great. If not, oh well. Basically, I wouldn't want the organization to pass on a franchise QB in the future because of some obligation to Clemens.

The length of this thread is hilarious.

Before we have even played an NFL down, we're debating over the ability of two guys who have done literally nothing.

    Sunday can't come fast enough.

McKenzie is an overpaid player - you can't pay a RT that much money under the cap. Did you see Thomas get run over when the Jets played the Redskins?

If you pay Olinemen, you pay LT's and Centers - so building around D'Brick and Nick makes a lot more sense.

The other issue - give it a chance, please!

I think folks were hoping the Jets would draft a NFL ready QB this time around. Hopefully the kid won't be picking splinters out of his ass for the next 3 years. From what I've been seeing on the ESPN run ups, Both Leinart and Cutler are ready to play NOW and probably will. Marino did the same back in the day along with the rest of that legendary class of QB's.

Who knows. With any luck, it WON'T take a Chad injury to get Clemens in a game this season..

Leinart and Cutler probably will play now? How do you figure that?

EXCELLENT point and that applies to guys like OMAR JACOBS too. he was the rawest of the QBs drafted and MOST fans knew it! Yet some want to pound their chests when he was cut and put on the PS. Lets see where he is in 3 or 4 years. It is all a crap shoot and helps make life exciting for the fans!

the Denver QB situation is going to be very interesting this year. Fragile Jakey Plummer is going to be running out to dig holes in the woods by week 6 when the entire Broncos fanbase is calling for Cutler at QB.

Cutler may be the right move in the long term for Denver but I think they're going to take a fall this year.

I wouldn't say Cutler is the most NFL ready, or even close. This is the guy who couldn't beat Middle Tennessee State a little under a year ago. Just because he LOOKS the part doesn't mean he IS. If that were the case, we'd be enshrining Marinovich.
