Smith hasn't earned franchise QB status, and anyone who argues that is wrong. But the "homers" are not crazy for not being upset with Smith's play so far this year. Jets fans should be encouraged by his undeniable progress from last year. He's had turnovers but no moronic turnovers so far, and he does seem to be learning from his mistakes. (Whereas Mark never really looked all that much better than he did his rookie year, and he threw the exact same screen passes for pick-6s for 4 years.) Only true darksiders ("It's week 2 and still no VLTs! ") could feel that Geno hasn't made big progress since last year. At this rate, he will not be benched for Michael Vick, whereas a few months ago I was wondering if he'd even make it to October as the starter. That's progress! IMO you gotta look at the trajectory and not just the absolute quality level. The hope is that Geno continues improving and winds up becoming our unquestioned franchise QB in 2016. Long road ahead, but so far this year has been encouraging.
Just pretend he said "sharky" and walk around saying "nom nom nom" to random people for the rest of the day.
