Its almost as if the media is blaming the Jets for the Colts resting Manning & Co midway thru the 3rd quarter or some of the Bengals starters on Sunday. I can understand the Colts game the Jets offense didnt start to click once the starters were gone but the Bengals were completey different. The rookie LB from USC was out for the year so he wouldn't of played yesterday. The D held Carson Palmer and the offense to 7 yards in the first half with basically their entire starting offense on the field minus Bensen. The Jets have never gotten respect by the Media, not in 02, not in 04, 06 on and on. the only time the Media started to belive in the Jets was last year at 8-3 when thy called them the best team in the AFC and 2nd best team in the league and then look what happened

So when did we become the Arizona Cardinals. In my opinion though with a rookie HC and QB our team has already been a huge success by just making the playoffs. We also have a winning record and beat out two teams with the same record to be in so how do we not deserve it. If the Steelers were in people would be saying oh no here they come the steelers are going to make a run. But its us so people have been saying we are the only team with 0 chance of winning the superbowl. Luckily we have Rex who will have our team pumped up thinking we have just as good a shot as anyone else.

Who here really feels like our team BELONGS in the playoffs? I know I don't. I mean, I'm happy as hell that we are still alive, but come on... we needed a lot of help to get here, and playing a Manning-less Colt team was a gift. There were a handful of other teams I expected to steal the spot we are in, but it didn't work out that way. Sometimes the lucky bounces go your way. I think that is what we have here, and for us that is great. Back in 85 I didn't think the Patsies belonged there either and they ended up playing the Bears instead of us for the Super Bowl. Shit happens.

Throw in the fact that the old saying "Defense wins Championships" clearly would favor the Jets as "most deserving" out of that batch. Our record and the formula for tie-breakers clearly say we qualify for the playoffs.

We went 5-1 to close out the season and get in position for a Wildcard while other teams in contention imploded and proved that they did not deserve to be in. We are in the playoffs and we deserve to be in the playoffs. Period.

If it makes the writers feel any better, they can put a asterisk by our SB trophy. Don't belong.....my ass.

Sure we are there, but deserve it? I dunno... I'm happy enough being there. I won't give up the spot that is for sure. This team did a bit of overachieving and got a little lucky. I don't know why that has to be considered a negative, or a bad thing. Happens to a team or two every year.

I think so. We can beat the Bengals, and I think we could beat the Ravens. The Pats, well thats 50/50. As far as the Colts/Bolts, ehh...I think one of those 2 is going all the way. So were right in the mix as far as competition. I think that our status as the holder of the No.1 defense makes us a legitimate contender. Most of the time "luck" doesn't bounce our way. I'm not looking this "gift" horse in the mouth. it is tough to believe that for a change, we catch a break.

Yeah the Cardinals didn't belong last year either

I don't understand the whole "don't belong in the playoffs" argument. The record was good enough to make the playoffs and they won the requisite tiebreakers. What more does it take? If the Steelers/Dolphins/Texans had won games earlier in the year they'd be in the playoffs. They didn't, we did so go fuck yourself if you think we don't belong.

Agreed. Not only did we go 5-1 down the stretch, but we're 3-1 against AFC playoff opponents. Granted the Colts sat players, but we were right in that game and it's not our fault they decided to do what they did.

The Bengals starters were completely dominated by the Jets.

Absolutely... any given Sunday. I like our odds against any of those three, and even the Colts. Even though they didn't have Manning, I think beating them gives our team some mental toughness to go out and do it again. The Bolts are are a tough team. But who knows... weirder stuff has happened.

Nevertheless, there are a few teams not going that I would have expected to have made it before us. I think we are right there in the thick with most of them, but that has more to do with rampant mediocrity in the league than anything else.

I'm glad you don't have the option

Seriously though, every team gets breaks here and there during the season and we just happened to get a couple that helped us squeek into a playoff spot. If it was any other team it probably wouldn't be much of an issue, but since it's the Jets everyone wants to slight them for it.

The Bengals haven't been themselves for a few games now.. some of that has to do with injuries... I hope it continues through next week for us. Bengals have the potential to be a tough opponent, but then last week our OL really was awesome against their starting line. If we can play smart ball and not turn it over against them I like our shot at advancing.

I love all this crap. PLEASE keep underestimating us. I much prefer our underdog role than the alternative. It will just make it all the more rewarding when we smack the shit out of everyone who lines up accross from us.

Once they face a postseason team that takes the game seriously -- and can exploit a feeble offense led by struggling rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez -- the truth will be known: The Jets never should've been here in the first place

if only our running game wasn't so weak.
