Based on: Matsuzaka is a 26 year old rookie who has been DOMINATING a league that is rated as slightly better than AAA and Park was 29 year old who had pitched 5 semi-decent years in the NL. Park topped out in the low 90's, with a decent curve. Matsuzaka is generally in the mid 90's and has been clocked at 98. He also throws two breaking pitches, including an amazing curve, a sinker, and a forkball/change. Plus Matsuzaka has pitched very well against MLB hitters when he has faced them.

I heard from a guy I know that is a beat writer for a team in the NL West. He told me he heard from somebody within his organization that an AL West team won the bid and he thought Texas was the winner.
The 2 latest Matsuzaka rumors: 1. Two Japanese tabloids reporting there is a lot of tension in the Seibu offices, as word is starting to come out that the bid may have been considerably less than the $30M+ expected. Infact, it could be half of that, only a little more than what Ichiro's posting fee was. 2. A few unconfirmed, unreliable sources are saying that the Cubs may have won the bidding at $28M (which would totally contradict what the word in Japan is.) However right now this rumor has been almost totally shot down.
