Puck- I enjoy your posts but can't buy into this one. Severity of the offense is immaterial. The long and short of the matter is that there was an assault and he ran from law enforcement. We can't sit here and make excuses/speculate as to why he ran.

If you are confronted by the police and you don't comply- i.e. flee- it doesn't matter if you run 3 feet, 3 blocks or 3 miles- the offense is the same. Why he wasn't charged with this offense I can't say.

    Stupid is as stupid does...

Nobody really knows what happened. If he pleas it down and pays off the women to shut up hard to see this being a big deal. If the women holds out for big money and is willing to take him to court and let the ugly details come out that will color this a totally different way.

rofl, having your cake and eating it too? you cant take a moral stance and then say it would be excusable if he had a pro bowl caliber season. oh wait he did, he had a pro bowl caliber season at kick returner.

need I remind you kick returners, let alone ones as consistent as Miller dont grow on trees. Sure Revis can return, but we dont need our starting corner to take that risk. Let alone I doubt hed be as good as Miller at KR. Not to mention our CB depth is horrendous. Miller is definitely worth keeping.

But he definitely did something stupid. The punch I could care a less about, we dont know the circumstances. But the chase, thats downright stupid.

cutting miller would be dumb, mangini will start working with him. expect some fluff pieces about miller turning a new leaf and mangini making him a project.

Some of you guys are really overreacting........look around the league, guys got arrested left and right over the past few months.......the only 2 guys to get suspended were guys that were arrested like 10+ times.........JM got charged with a 3rd degree misdemeanor.......He may get suspended a game by Mangini, but Goodell won't do a damn thing..........If he does, he would have to suspend a bunch of others too

He ran from the cops? You guys were there? Where are the charges of evading police and the like? Most likely he bounced out of there in panic and called his lawyer or something and then turned himself in.......Hardly the same thing as "running from the cops"

People calling for his head and for him to get cut are borderline ridiculous........He was our only pro bowl player, I repeat last season, Justin Miller was our only pro bowl player.....I don't care if he was a KR, the guy is a playmaker for us that could have (and should have) been a big part of 2 comeback wins last year.......We better not cut Justin Miller, if we do, that will set a bad precedent for the team........What happens when Kerry Rhodes gets a DUI (more serious) or something, do we cut him too right away?? Will Mangini be playing favorites? I have no problem with a game suspension by Mangini, but cutting the guy for his first mistake in the league off the field, a very minor one at that, is overreacting at it's finest

People are making way to big of a deal out of this he got into some sort of trouble with that woman (that parts not quite clear) and he ran out of the place (no car chases!!!) guy was on foot. I bet Miller pays this woman some money to drop the charges and say she ran into him by accident.

So the fact that he fled on foot instead of in a car somehow makes it acceptable, not as big of a deal?

"Your honor, my client didn't really flee- he just walked away very fast. It's not like he took off in a car or utilized any other means of mechanical transportation."

As an organization they are preaching charcacter, Miller slipped in the draft b/c of previous run ins w/ the law and we took a chance and now he has been arrested again. He needs a heavy fine and suspension and if the league doesn't suspend him b/c it's his 1st offense in the league then he Jets need to step up and suspend him. They preach character and they cannot compromise that.

Exactly, he wasn't going out of his way to get away from the police he just ran out of there knowing he screwed up and the police picked him up.

The Daily News reports said he ran a block & was run down by a patrol car.

    That doesn't hold water.

All statements thus far are that a "police chase" was involved. From that I'm assuming that Miller knowingly left the scene, cognizant of the fact that the police were on his tail. This is inexcusable.

Look at the flip-side of the coin, that Miller left the scene before police arrived. This scenario is just as bad, as it paints Miller as a true coward- one who struck another person, possibly in error (if he was swinging at one of the guys and accidentally hit the woman) who, instead of calling police/emt's and rendering assistance of his own until rescuers arrived, he took off- he's a real man's man.

If Miller actually was a game changer this would be burried. The fact that we gave up draft picks to get his replacement tells me he is done.

I think that Miller will get a game suspension or so by Mangini himself..that is it..he has a history that the jets don't like...has no one commented on how funny it is swinging at a guy and him ducking and he ends up hitting a chick...that is out of a movie..hilarious.

I lose, I pay. You lose, you pay. Period. Do you have any problem with that? You've expressed confidence that a suspension won't be handed down and you could very well be right. Sounds like an easy 50 bucks for you, no? Of course, if you lose and you keep your word that you will stop posting here if Miller does in fact get suspended, maybe I should be the one concerned about getting paid.....

We're all over-reacting. Was it stupid? You bet. There's no excuse for him getting into an altercation with anyone. He should have just walked away from the confrontation and gone home.

But should we cut him over this? No way. I don't think the offense is severe enough for that kind of punishment. Besides, he's a Pro Bowler, and everyone knows we need people with good bowling skills.

His apology in this morning's paper does upset me a little, however. He apologized to everyone on the face of the earth except to the woman he punched. Not a good choice. He really needed to take it to that step, even if the woman was probably an enabling, badgering, instigator.

I don't know about that....I think it's a requirement for Cinncinati that he be indicted first before they can even consider picking him up. He's only been arrested and that's far too early for Lewis to even consider..........
