That is exactly right. He needs to have the best game of his career so far. And I think he can. Big moment for him.
Zach Wilson’s career on the line against one of the worst pass defenses in the league? This is definitely going to end well.
GREAT question. SO many different scenarios and possibilities. Will be a fascinating few weeks. Just hope we win games in the process!
I would guess we probably go back to White. Zach has to have a good-great game on Sunday just to have a chance to keep the job going forward. His normal 15-29, 159 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, won't cut it against one of the league's worst pass D's. This is Zach's opp to right the ship and start to change the narrative surrounding him. I've gotta be honest and say I highly doubt he does that on Sunday but I'm certainly hoping he does.
i don’t think that’s gonna happen. Wilson will start against Jacksonville and likely the rest of the year. Underwealming or not
I'm sorry, but in my opinion, if you pay your money for a ticket, you are allowed to voice your opinion, even if I disagree with it.
Maybe MAYBE now that the shine is all the way off Wilson being the future for this franchise they won't worry about babying him and just let him play. Kind of a "if he dies, he dies" situation similar to the Giants with Jones.
This is a good question actually. I'll extend it to after the Jaguars game since that is a short week. If Zach wins both of his starts, but still doesn't look too impressive, I think it becomes a truly tough call for the coaching staff. If he loses one, it opens up a clear decision for Mike to return at Seattle. If he loses both: the season is over. This will be a crazy week at One Jets Drive!
I would say that if the Jets weren't in contention for a playoff spot, Zach keeps the job. However, if you're the coach, you should want to give the rest of the guys the best shot to get to the playoffs and that is White.
I agree with this. I think if health is not a factor, they'll go with the QB they think is best for the team and gives them the best chance to win, as corny as that sounds. So IMO Zach needs to look really solid Sunday and if so, he might keep the job. If he's lousy or worse, I do think they'll go back to Mike White as soon as he's available
So much butt hurt in this thread. We've won games with Zach as QB but now all of a sudden all is lost because McRib can't go. Unreal.
We don't need Zach to be amazing, we just need him to be competent. If we can beat the Bills with him starting we can beat these bums.
I hope Zach Wilson comes out and throws for 275 yards and 3 touchdowns. Reality is, this offense is probably going to be an absolute disaster on Sunday. Wilson has piss poor timing, piss poor mechanics, and piss poor field vision. Maybe his little 3 week reset worked.
