That tells me we are even more likely to stay at 29, or trade down. No way would Tannenbaum say something like that unless it was false.
Exactly what i thought he would say. Say enough but not really revealing anything that can give the opponents anything to guess on.
Its a damn lot better than (pick one): "we used our first round pick to select Bryan Thomas" "we trade two first round picks for Dwayne Robertson" "we trade our first round pick for Doug Jolley +" all of the above
per Newsday: When asked if the Jets view the 29th pick as a way to select a player or as bait for a draft-day trade, Tannenbaum said, "Certainly more the latter."
We could have had the #15. We chose not to include the later round picks that Atlanta ultimately secured from Denver. Tangini made the judgement to keep the picks to develop depth. Judgement call. That's what they were hired for. Personally, I think it was the right decision.
I really like this analysis. While Chatham obviously is not a gifted player - he has enough talent - combined with his knowledge of the system to really make the rest of the LB's push themselves. With the new coaching staff you have a certain dependence on the players motivating themselves to learn the new system. Nothing motivates like the idea of losing playing time to a physically less gifted individual.
