Only reason Turner is good is because he plays behind LT same reason why Lamont was good in NY played behind Martin and hes done nothing ever since. Its gonna be a Derrick Blaylock signing all over again. i would rather have a bruiser type or guy that can go between the tackles not a scat back type.

Even Curtis Martin in his prime wouldn't be getting yards in oakland, Jordan did have a 1000 yard season last year, stop putting him down.....

It's his own coach looking to get him, so obviously he knows more about him than all of us here combined..........

lemme ask ou this. Turner is only good because he plays behind LT you say. explain that theory. Is it because when turner comes in the defense doesnt realize its turner so they cant tackle? is it because the defense is exhausted because theyve been chasing LT all day? I dont get it. does tuner take the same roids or rocket fuel that LT does? do they share some secret vitamin tigether. How does playing behind a great back makke you better?

The guy is listed at 5'10 237 & is fast as hell. People just have to make comparisons.. There is nothing about his game that reminds anyone about Derrick Blaylock, I do see some of the comparisons to LJ though, although I think Turner is faster.. He is not a scat back as you say..

I'd rather have Peterson of OU.

The Jets have young running backs, problem is they don't have a quality young RB.. That where Turner comes into play..

For a good running game you need the TE & WR's enough of a threat that linebacker zoning for the run is dubious. Then you need a runningback large enough and guick enough to take advantage. An amount of natural skill and determination is necessary. The Jets have that natural skill in Brad Smith and the size and determination in Houston, Washington, and Barlow. All we have to do is figure out a way to combine them.
We could pick up Peterson if we traded Chad away to one of the top three or four draft day teams for their number one pick. We'd need to find a QB that had more than just potential before that. And, of course this might mean that Chad would have to have some good days... Oh well.
We could also find the fastest 300+ lb. lineman and put him in the back field and then take advantage of Smith, Baker, and Washington in movement handoffs and provide more blocking for Chad.
The running game should be fun for the whole team. When the team considers a three yard carry as pretty good the running game is not fun. It should be a challenge to get more than four yards. And, a team effort and success. The game should be kept track of by the participants of the team at the time of the play; yards gained/divided by number of plays/and adding averaging plays per game divided by ten; and, categorizing plays sufficiently to keep track in a visible manner. The team should have a weekly vote along with the coaches as to keeping the scores or starting over. Of course that should be a team thing.
So, finally... Turner might be nice.

this is the same GM that franchised Drew Brees for a year or so, lets not underestimate him. If someone likes him, that GM will get some NICE compensation for him.

Totally different situations, not at all comparable. Besides, a 2nd round pick for a player that has no role on the team is NICE compensation as you say.

I think our best bet is to hope that Adrian Peterson gets hurt playing too much Guitar Hero (like a certain Tigers pitcher) and can't perform at the Combine, maybe dropping him to the Jets pick in the 1st round. Then we pick him and tell him he's not allowed to even move off the football field.

have you watched him play on SNF against the chiefs? he bulldozed his way through kansas defense. he really is something else. he's also a great kick returner. not saying we NEED a kick returner but thats what he brings to the table.

by the way the chargers HAVE to trade him because otherwise they wont get anything for him when he becomes an FA. offer them a 2nd round pick and im sure they will let him go

A 2nd Rounder for Turner is a no-brainer to me. The Jets aren't dying for a RB right now but that's a steal.

What about Cedric Benson or Thomas Jones. Is there any chance either one would be available?

doesn't cedric houston remind anyone of lamont jordan? when we get our starting running back, i'd like to keep houston as that jordan type, and neon leon too as a kevin faulk type running back...barlow, sorry buddy, but you seem like the odd man out

I still rate Barlow above Houston, but I don't get to see all of every game, so I apologise if I am in error.

No way Barlow is a better RB than Houston. Id still like to see the Jets upgrade with Turner though. Im not sure what it would cost them if they opted to work out a trade. I believe the Chargers are well under the cap, and will offer a one year deal that will cost any team in pursuit to cough up a 1st and 3rd rder if they go through FA

I think the tender is key - 1st & 3rd = they want to keep him, 1st only = they'll listen to offers.
