I agree with you, man. We've got a shitton of cap room; time to use it. I agree that we should at least limit ourselves on how much to spend on Samuel if we're targeting other specific guys in FA, but we can make multiple average-to-big signings this offseason as well as get through the draft and still have room to spare with regards to the cap.

I can understand if we don't end up shelling out ridiculous amounts of money for him, but we better justify it by going hard after every other hole that we have to fill this offseason.

I haven't seen a lot of either player. The Jets, as you might imagine, weren't on TV much over here this year. From what I have seen, Ferguson looked a little better than in his rookie year, McNeill a little worse. I know which trend I prefer.

It shouldn't take three offseasons to get a decent NT prospect and/or established NT on the roster.

It shouldn't take three offseasons to acquire and/or draft a decent pass rusher or two.

It's not impatience, it's disappointment..... If they couldn't make any real, successful effort to address either of those needs in either of the last two offseasons, why should we believe they will successfully do so this year?

You say get a decent NT, and I know everyone hates DRob, but is he that bad?, does he get much help, isn't he taking on double teams most of the time because theres no one else at the other D end spot?

Mangini played DT, NT and i think he likes DRob.... i dont kno im just sayin...

Robertson is a heck of a 3T 4-3 DT. He makes plays in our defense if he's moved to DE and confronted with a single blocker or when a team, like Pittsburgh is foolish enough to to try to block him at the NT position with a single OL. As he himself said, "Can't nobody block me (by himself)," --> Ask Alan Faneca.

However, a NT's job is to take on double teams and hold his ground and/or get a push. Robertson cannot do that... Robertson often loses ground when confronted by a double team. When the DL is pushed back to the second level, the effectiveness of the LBs is all but taken away completely.

I don't care if Mangini LIKES Robertson, Robertson, save for flashes here and there when given favorable (often one-on-one) matchups, has been ineffective as a NT, and has limited the potential of our D as a unit.

You wanna give Mangini a pass for not bringing in a NT prospect in his first offseason and banking on Robertson and Pouha? That's fine.

But after a full season of evaluation, which saw one of our best players (Vilma) limited tremendously in his effectiveness by his lack of protection, one would think efforts would be made to bring in SOMEONE to help that NT position.

Not even a 7th round draft pick was committed to improving that spot. As I've said in previous posts, improvements are not made by standing pat when something is clearly not working...

i can't understand why we always try to fill round holes with square pegs. if the teams so high on pouha, then put him at nt, move drob to end, and start building our defense with that in mind! why not use guys at the positions they're best suited to play? why play a 3-4, if your teams better suited to play a 4-3? in my opinion, a good coach looks at the make up of his team, and adapts to the team. he does'nt try and make his team conform to him!!!

That wasn't Samuel covering Burress on that final pass.... don't know about the deep pass you're referring to.

Secondary looked good because the rush D was awful.

I believe he is talking about the deep seam pass to Burress. Although he was triple-covered, Samuel did make a good play on the ball and knock it away.

Granted, afterwards, he flexed and mugged it up on the field like he had just cured cancer, but that is different matter altogether.

He was a 7th. And at 6'4 305 lbs, he was never a legitimate true NT prospect
